I am a new fan of Bernadette's although I have always admired her, ever since I saw her in Annie and the Jerk. I only just began buying her albums and seeing her other film performances. I am just wondering which films she has done are most highly recommended for a fan.

Marie: Because I just heard a song on the radio that reminded me of the way we were.
Navin: What was it?
Marie: "The Way We Were."

Yay...I love new fans. I'm relatively new myself. I think that Pennies From Heaven (1981) is her best film and film performance. She's gorgeous and really seems to thoroughly understand her character. Another favorite of mine is Slaves of New York (1989). It was pretty much panned across the board by the critics, but I love it. Bernadette is adorable and it's a great bit of 80s fun. The TV film, The Last Best Year (1992) is also great and is available on video. I would also suggest trying to find Into the Woods and Sunday in the Park With George if you haven't seen those yet. It gives those (like myself) who have never seen her in a Broadway show a glimpse of her immense stage talents. Anyway, I know you'll enjoy your oddyssey into Bernadette territory...it's a blast!

Did Peters, whose character is a Broadway baby transplanted to Ireland, have any qualms about playing a lesbian, even in a family-friendly movie? "I was more nervous about playing Jewish," she notes, adding her trademark giggle. "And having to be an actress who read Chekhov."---this just cracks me up

Thank you very much. I've tried looking for a few of the movies you both mentioned all ready with out much luck, but now that I know they're well worth the search, I bet I can track them down on ebay. I have seen clips of her performance in Into The Woods, and do want very much to get a copy of the DVD. Same with Sunday In The Park With George.

Further more, thanks for the welcome as well I look forward to getting to talk with other Bernadette fans
