| posted: 7/13/2007 at 1:38:08 PM ET That's what I heard too! And it didn't make sense. First of all, we know Bernadette's sister's name is Donna but also Bernadette would have no jurisdiction over naming a dog from the BARC shelter. I'm sure she had her name of Francine long before Bernadette met her for I'm going to assume the first time this morning. I was going to listen to it again to see if she was saying it was someone else's sister or what exactly she was referring to. I also didn't catch that she said anything about a recording and was surprised when Rose mentioned it. But when I saw the online video I realized the word as distorted because the dog was pulling on her at them moment. So Rose, you have much better hearing than I do.
"Particular mention must be made of Bernadette Peters, who turns up briefly in a sort of sparkly Glinda the Good costume. She's the reluctant muse sent to help Alice with her writing. The muse is dressed like Oz, sounds like Queens and behaves like a bored student adviser." Alice Film Review, The New York Times, December 25, 1990
"I'm one star away from Dolly Parton ... and Raymond Massey is between us. I hope we don't suffocate him." Bernadette Peters receiving her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, April 24, 1987

From: northern VA | posted: 7/13/2007 at 10:53:41 PM ET Don't know about Francine's name and the connection to her sister (unless Donna is actually a middle name being used as a first name, who knows), but the Broadway Barks email said that she and Patty Saccente are personally rescuing animals from kill shelters. Perhaps she helped Francine be placed in BARC, and was able to name her.
Just something that's off the top of my head! I'm just came back from seeing the new Harry Potter movie and I'm a little muddled.

Registered: 5/3/2002 | posted: 7/14/2007 at 10:30:55 AM ET Today Show segment this morning was extremely short (but good). When Mary let slip that one of her own dogs was bought, instead of from a shelter, Bernadette responded "Mary, you didn't have to say that!"

Still a good interview though. Bernadette is so quick with her responses. I think it would have been longer had the news anchors not spent all that time right before the segment talking about how she called Danielle Radcliffe, David. Oh, well.
