Thanks so much for the YouTube link.

Can anyone else hear Bernadette singing "I'll steal you, Johanna, I'll steal you"? ... that little pup is so adorable! I love the way Bernadette tries to get the puppy to do tricks ... but see how Johanna is already eating the treat from BP's hand ... so, no chance.

My dog groomer rescued a three-legged poodle called "Rush". She named him "Rush" because he rushes about everywhere ... having a leg amputated isn't a big deal when you have three others to spare. I hope Tyson finds a loving home.

as Bernadette says....just keep moving on.....

Well of course, Johanna is VERY smart for such a little girl.

Indeed! That was Johanna's very best doggy trick ... quietly devouring the trick-enducing treats out of BP's hand while Bernadette is preoccupied telling Regis & Kelly how she will get this tiny baby girl to do tricks!

as Bernadette says....just keep moving on.....

I'm sure the dogs will find homes. I think a lot of the dogs featured on TV (like the "Shelter Dog/Cat of the Week" on local newscasts, much less national television) get a number of inquiries.

(Well, not the dogs themselves.)

Just a reminder for the New Yorkers, Bernadette will be on the CW Morning News tomorrow. Their website has her scheduled to be on around 7:40! Hope she gets to bed early tonight.

Will the NASDAQ be televised? And if you don't get CW 11 because (sadly) you don't live in New York, will they post the segment on their website? If they don't, would some of you lovely New Yorkers be able to give the rest of us a recap? Thanks

Kate

The NASDAQ press release appears to include a link to a live webcast of the opening. I'm not exactly sure if it will work, but we should all try it and see what happens!

I agree, any and all recaps would be much appreciated.

Karen, thanks for the info about the live broad cast. I pulled it up just now and it seems to be giving me a live view of the NASDAQ building. Yeah! It works!
Just incase you all are like me and did see the time on the press release, it's at 9:30 Am Et.
Does any one know if that's about 8:30 for someone who lives in Texas?
Thanks
Kate

Well if she's going to be up for a 7:40 interview, I suppose she might as well make two public appearances before 10am.

As for Tyson -- I've seen a three-legged dog compete successfully in dogs sports like flyball and that one was missing one of its front legs. It was incredible. It ran faster than some of the four-legged dogs and I'm not talking just the Yorkies and toy poodles either. To continue the review of Bernadette's dog training technique though, it looked to me like she was luring the puppy into the positions correctly by letting her only try to nibble the treat and that she only gave Johanna her reward after she lay down; however, most trainers would not want you to repeat the command more than once.

I also taped MTM's interview and agree with Moljul that it was rather weak. I think Mary could have used more rehearsal time with her script and her props -- meaning the dogs. She didn't know or couldn't remember much about them, didn't know where people should look for more info on them and only managed to remember the names of Angela Lansbury and Joanne Worley when talking about the event. The great thing was that the unhappy looking ten year old Bichon or Poodle mix got adopted by a mother and daughter sitting in the audience. At the very end of the show, they showed them with the new adoptee and she looked happier, I think.

She looked great. She had four dogs on the show. She was holding one on her lap and in the middle of the interview another one jumped on the couch to sit next to her.She said that she and MTM started Barks because they went to the shelter and there were all these adoptable animals. And there was this big event at BC/EFA and they raised so much money that Bernadette and Mary decided to do it with animals. And it's really pet therapy. And then they showed clips of her in Gypsy. Then they asked her about Stella and Kramer and she said that she named Stella for A Streetcar Named Desire and Kramer for Seinfeld cause he slid right into the room. Then they asked her if she's going back to Bway anytime soon and she said that she's really excited to do eight shows a week but in order to do that it has to be something really fabulous but right now she's doing concerts all over the country and she has one in Ohio in August to benefit AIDS and that she's working on a recording and that she's really devoting her time now to helping these wonderful animals. At one point the dog who had jumped on the couch started coughing and she said to it that's what cats do you're not a cat and then told the audience that it was just allergies. It was short but a cute interview.

Thanks Mama Rose for the recap. I don't feel so bad about missing it now.
Did anyone else watch the NASDAQ opening? Bernadette was there with the President of the ASPCA and they both brought dogs! The President of the ASPCA had Joanna with him and Bernadette had what i think was a black lab puppy named Paul. They both gave quick little speeches about the ASPCA and Broadway Barks. When the ASPCA guy spoke it was funny because he was stumbling over his words so he let someone else hold Joanna, then he went back to continue his speech and he still stumbled over his words. lol poor guy. Then it was Bernadette's turn, and she gave a lovely speech (with Paul in her arms!) about their goal of making New York a no kill city, spaying and neutering your pets, what Broadway Barks is and when it will be held. After that they took a bunch of pictures which I assume will be posted on the NASDAQ website.
Now here's the part that I don't get...after they took all the pictures, this lady (who was off camera) said something and then all the people posing for the picture instantly started looking and talking to each other. Then the lady said something else and they all started waving...then she said something else and the all stared clapping in rhythm. I didn't get it, it all seemed very random. Anyway then, they stared the count down and rang the bell. I'm disappointed because I thought that they were actually going to ring a bell but all they did was push a button.

OK on my last post I meant to thank Rose, not Mama Rose. Sorry.

Anyway CW11 just posted the clip of her on their show so here it is.

Thanks for the link to the CW11 interview. What was that little bit about naming the dog Francine, after her sister? Is that what she said?

That's what I heard too! And it didn't make sense. First of all, we know Bernadette's sister's name is Donna but also Bernadette would have no jurisdiction over naming a dog from the BARC shelter. I'm sure she had her name of Francine long before Bernadette met her for I'm going to assume the first time this morning. I was going to listen to it again to see if she was saying it was someone else's sister or what exactly she was referring to. I also didn't catch that she said anything about a recording and was surprised when Rose mentioned it. But when I saw the online video I realized the word as distorted because the dog was pulling on her at them moment. So Rose, you have much better hearing than I do.
