The English title for Bernadette's Italian film from last year (Come le Formiche)is "Wine and Kisses".

The fact that it has been given an English title suggests that it is set for a 2007 DVD release as I don't think they would bother doing that if it was only going to have an Italian TV screening.

This is the place to watch the progress of the DVD release Bernadette's Italian Film

Thanks for the info, Scottie. Curious to see what it ends up being. I was afraid it was going to disappear without a trace.

Oh... I have a question.
She speaks Italian in this movie?

No, she didn't speak Italian. She spoke English and was dubbed.

Thanks for the update on that movie. I have been waiting for that movie to come out. By any chance does anyone know the rating (R, PG, PG-13...) on this movie? Thanks!

Very welcome news. Is that international distribution? I hope.

I'm wondering if it will be a region free issue so that it will play in places other than Europe. Let's hope Amazon have it for pre-order soon. Is there an Amazon Italia?

Looking at the Italian website with the Come le Formiche information ... it's amusing that the literal translation of
"Data di uscita: 21/06/2007" is date of "escape".

Looks like this film is so eager to get to Bernadette fans that it will escape before they can release it.

This is so great that they are releasing Wine and kisses on DVD! Even if it only plays in Europe they are always selling region free dvd players on ebay ... and I've seen some as cheep as $20. At least we'll get to see it!! I just pray that they don't dub BP's voice.

Is this still set to come out on June 21st? I can't find it?

Not entirely sure what you mean about not finding it , but the 21st of June "date of escape" for Bernadette's Italian film is still there on the Cinema Italiano website. I suppose we'll have to be satisfied with that little piece of information as there doesn't seem to be an Amazon Italia site to consult.

Tell you what ... though I don't travel to many Italian cities ... I am happy to say that I do frequently visit Venice. So, next time I indulge my Venetian tendencies, I will certainly enquire about Come le Formiche/Wine and Kisses and report right back.

I seem to recall reading somewhere about the Arabic-dubbed DVD release being postponed after it failed to generate any interest whatsoever at the Cairo film festival. Maybe I'm confusing it with something else though...it's a little vague in my mind.

Yes, I seem to recall reading about the Cairo festival too. I adore film festivals and usually take an active interest in both the London and Edinburgh international film festivals, so will look out for any mention of "Come le Formiche" at those events. I don't think I would be inclined to go all the way to Cairo though ... not even for Bernadette.
