Have a happy and healthy New Year! Thanks for hanging around this little old site as it proudly enters its 6th year of existance. As always, please pass along ideas and suggestions to make it even better.

A tip of the hat and a sip of the glass to you, Kevin--who knew back then that you would help us create our own little world!

And for the rest of you, for this year:

"May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
May the rains fall soft upon your fields..."

(Yes, I've deliberately dropped the last 2 lines.)

Indeed. A veritable Bernadette microcosm where "newbies" like me can learn about and indulge in all things Bernadette... a very welcome and fun diversion from this bigger and increasingly crazy world that surrounds us all.

So, a tip of my tam o' shanter and a wee dram of my Poit Dhubh Single Malt Whisky to you all... Slainte Mhath! (Slangevar!)

as Bernadette says....just keep moving on.....

"our own little world" "a veritable Bernadette microcosm"

Love those phrases. They remind me of something G.K. Chesterton once wrote in an essay on Robert Louis Stevenson. He said "It is a thing like the landscape of his dreams; the sort of world he would like to make or in which he would wish to wander; the strange flora and fauna of his own secret planet; the sort of thing he likes to think about."

W.H. Auden quoted that passage in the foreword to his commonplace book A Certain World, and added his comment "Here, then, is a map of my planet."

What a perfect summation of the way I feel about this website (a map of my planet) and about everyone who posts on the board and forms this special community. Thanks to all of you and extra, extra thanks to Kevin for making it all possible. [And to Bernadette just for existing]

Kevin, I just reread your first post and noticed that you wrote the site was entering its 6th year. Actually, it will be entering its 7th year next month!

A Happy New Year to all.
We had a little New Year's party at our house and a couple of Bernadette 45's were played by the official house DJ (i.e., me). In fact I got a request to play The Trouble With Me is You for a second time! I had some folks try to guess who the artist was - no one came even close and I had to actually show the record label to everyone to prove it was BP!
Also, I won't be wanting any more Bailey's Irish Creme for awhile...

Er... ewps. Yep. Entering 7th year. Good catch. I was enjoying a nice glass of Bailey's Irish Cream (ironically, considering the last post), so I have an excuse for forgetting about a whole year

I tried Hendrick's for the first time a few years ago, and it's now my favorite Gin. Let's see now, where is it made?
