She might like the idea of going to London and working on the stage, especially in this play--so rich and rewarding--at this point in her life.
On the other hand,it is such a difficult role, she's already "been there, done that", and, just maybe, she's just not ready to do the 8 performances every week along with all of the physical/emotional demands it requires.
How would this fit in with her needs--I couldn't say. How would this fit in with the thoughts of the London folks--I couldn't say.
My money is on a fine English actress, not Judi Dench or Julia McKenzie or Elaine Paige, someone more like Julie Walters. (Not that Judi, Julia, and Elaine aren't fine.)

Don't ask me why exactly, but I'm of the opinion that Bernadette is ready and eager for 8 performances a week, and that she's not emotionally finished with Rose by any means. Plus, she's never done a West End show and this would be the perfect one.

Of course I can't speak for all London's theatre patrons but I can say that very many of us have been scratching our heads for quite a few years wondering why Bernadette has never undertaken a West End role in her long and illustrious career. It's fair to say that London's theatrical reputation speaks for itself, and let's be honest, every other American actor, whether talented or not, seems to have done it! And since Bernadette is more gifted than most ... all I can say is that we eagerly await her West End debut. Let's hope that it is in GYPSY.
as Bernadette says....just keep moving on.....
