I saw Sam Harris in concert recently and he sang a very humorous and light-hearted song on "self Love". After the show he signed autographs and I asked him if he ever recorded the song. He said no but he seemed sure that Bernadette had recorded a version of it. My short term memory has already forgotten the title of the song. Does anyone know if she did anything like this?

Thanks!

Dinablaze.
The song is "Making Love Alone" and she did sing it in concert at Carnegie Hall and recorded it on the Angel label as Bernadette Peters - Live at Carnegie Hall. I guess not all recordings include the "cut', only the earlier ones. She does a very humorous rendition!

To the loveliest lady of song!

Sam Harris is currently doing a version of the song "Making Love Alone" in his concert act. It was originally written for Bernadette by Marilyn Miller & Cheryl Hardwick to perform on Satuday Night Live in 1981. For years after that she included it in her concerts, but hasn't been performing it for a while now.

It was track #4 on the original issue of her "Sondheim, Etc: Live At Carnegie Hall" CD, but was omitted completely from the reissue. It's not currently available on any of her commercial recordings, so you'd have to buy an older, used copy of the Live CD to obtain it. They're not hard to find.
