I love that wig! I grew up in a country/western music listening household - the costumers/wig maker perfectly captured the right look for Bernadette. Her look in the movie reminds me of a cross between 1970s Dolly Parton and Loretta Lynn.

Yes, as "awful" as the wig was, her character was supposed to be a star from the 70s and her look perfectly captured that idea.

"I'm one star away from Dolly Parton ... and Raymond Massey is between us. I hope we don't suffocate him." Bernadette Peters receiving her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, April 24, 1987

In my head, I have a "top five" favorite moments/scenes from her movies. This scene (singing "Crazy" with Rimes) has been, from the minute I saw the movie, one of those 5.

I think the movie, and especially Bernadette's performance in it, is underrated.

I agree Jean. I think most of you know that I'm in the controversial minority in this group in that I do not care for Bernadette's tv movies. However I think "The Best Last Year" and "Holiday In Your Heart" which were both wonderful stories that were very nicely produced.

There is also another one that was just added- a 12 second clip of her singing Being Alive at Sondheim's 75th birthday.

Another Bernadette video has been added today, and several more if you haven't checked in for a while. There's some SITPWG there and now, today, I found a video from the "Anyone Can Whistle" concert!

I just watched the techno-video--strangely amusing and enjoyable.

I hadn't noticed the clip from the Anyone Can Whistle concert. Nice, but I like other numbers better....

You know what video I'd like to see on Youtube (and I keep looking for all the time)...when she sang the introduction to the Oscars in 1993 (?) or 1994. I know it was the Oscars that David Letterman hosted. She sang a rendition of "Putting It Together." Would love to see that again.
