I just drove to and from Atlantic City tonight. We arrive there about 6:30 and left a little after 10:30 and got home about 3:00. Just took it slow and safe and made it back.
It's late so a quick concert report. She sang and looked wonderful. Her voice was so strong and glorious. She seemed a little saucey and silly tonight. Loved the information on the double sided tape. The biggest news - BEING ALIVE IS BACK! And it sounded wonderful.
At the end of the concert, before her encores, Bernadette reached out and touched the hands of two people near the front of that stage. My friend who was with me was looking through her binoculars at the time so she was able to see the exchange up close and she is quite certain the two people were Michael's parents. She had met them or saw them or something at some other Bernadette "affair" and she said the woman looked very much like Michael's mom. She wasn't able to get a good look at the man but obviously feels certain that if the woman was Michael's mother, the man would be his father. My Funny Valentine was as beautiful as it was at UConn. Just stunning. Well it was a good night, must go to bed.
It was good to talk to Sister Rose and Charmaine and wave to Ashley, Mandy, and Vicki from a far. Was that all I waved too? Noah, were you there too? Sorry I wasn't able to catch up with you afterwards, we went out another way and had to make a beeline to the ladies room.

I'm a little confused, though. What tape are you talking about?

No, but I was concerned too. Thanks for the report, Moljul.
From Shelli's post (btw, Shelli, your icon is one of my favorite pictures of Bernadette-you are obviously a woman of good taste and discernment): quote: sounds like she's recovered really well
It sounds like she is definitely moving forward, and taking big steps. I agree with that. But recovered.... it usually takes a widow/widower years (average length is two) to gain some sort of perspective.
Usual disclaimer--I only know what I know--but you can learn to put on a "public face" for work, social events, etc. Because it's not socially acceptable to grieve publicly after a short period of time.
How touching that his parents were (probably) there...and "Being Alive" is back...
I'm with you on the double sided tape thing, Shelli...what?!
(Try to) stay warm, all y'all up north!
(Mother made sure I was aware of the blizzard in the DC area.)

| posted: 2/12/2006 at 1:33:00 PM ET Sorry. Didn't mean to cause a night of confusion about tape. Very shortly after Bernadette came out on stage, she announced that she had used double sided tape for the first time (to tape her dress) and she was informing us that it doesn't work - "in case we wanted to know". Toward the end of the concert, she announced that she was removing the last piece of tape, then proceeded to make a mustache with it and then "chuck" it behind her.
Jenn, I agree about the recovering. She has definitely been making strides in her public life but I'm sure her private life is much different. It's only been 4.5 months. And I have to say my friend who was with me had a different interpretation of how Bernadette was doing last night. Feelings she got from watching her and observing her face. I didn't get the same interpretation, obviously, but hers could be just as valid.
