It's not a "fast" read, but your interest in Mrs. Lincoln should sustain you. Barbara Hambly is a new favorite-I started reading her mysteries. I'm not a mystery reader for the most part, but I'll read anything set in New Orleans or anywhere else in Louisiana, fact or fiction. I've not read her science fiction, because I'm not much on SF. Perhaps if it were set in New Orleans.
