I didn't see Will and Grace last night, but is it true that she did a bit (although not so good)of Being Alive...one of my most favorite songs Bernadette sings?

I don't watch the show, but apparently she also sang a very bad rendition of Send in the Clowns.

There was a long, pointless thread about this on ATC, with various people opining on whether it was funny or sacrilegous. There was a lot of "but it was SUPPOSED to be bad--it's a comedy" going on.

Yes, Debra Messing sang part of Being Alive and Send in the Clowns. It was funny. I did not find it offensive at all. Grace is supposed to be a bad singer, and her rendition of Being Alive is what turned her date off from her.
