Billy is on Letterman right now - just gave a nationwide notice to Bernadette about her being his understudy for 700 Sundays - "At tonight's performance, the role of Billy Chrystal will be played by Miss Bernadette Peters" - CRAZY! (I think Mandy let us know about this before) The night I was there, the announcement was that Denzel Washington was the understudy.
ALSO HE AND DAVE ARE DISSING THE PRESENCE OF CELL PHONES AT PERFORMANCES - ONE OF MY PET PEEVES - Billy supposedly told the audience at one of his 700 Sundays shows to either leave the cell phone at home or to shove it up their ***! (aside from Sister Rose - there is an announcement at the beginning of 700 Sundays to please turn off the cell phones - and at the beginning of the 2nd act there is another announcement w/ Billy's voice asking again to please turn off the cell phones and at the performance I attended, cell phones still went off!) (strong expletive) (And also I've heard that the French are now requiring patrons to check all cell phones at the door - why oh why can't we be more like the French, in more than one way?!)

I saw that - it was sweet. Amazing how successful Crystal's show has been.
I heard a cell phone go off at a memorial service once. Talk about disrespect! There should be some sort of mandatory etiquette class for people who insist on carrying those things around with them all the time.
