Has Bernadette Peters ever been a guest host or musical guest on Saturday Night Live? If not, she really should be/have been....

she was a musical guest back in the 80's i think and sang a song that is on the sondheim, etc cd from carnegie hall.

Yeah, the "Making Love Alone" song... hahah thats a great song! lol, bt I have the DVD when she sang in London, and the whole program is the same as Carnegie, except for that one song is left out! I was so bummed to cause on the Carnegie CD you hear everyone laughing and I just wish I could see her facial expressions as she sings that song!!

How does one go about getting copies of her TV performances, like on THE VIEW with Tammy and John, or like the numerous times she has hosted with Regis?

I think you have to find a really nice person to send ou a copy lol!.. I am a nice person, but I dont have any of them either lol sorry!

Well for anyone reading this, I can send a blank tape and however much shipping is plus a little extra just for your troubles...lol....But i didnt really become a BP fan until GYPSY, and now its like a daily mission to find tapings of her....so if anyone has anything please let me know!!!! thanks

There's a guy who is VERY generous and will send out like a set of three video tapes of all kinds of Bernadette intervies, tv performance, clips, etc. I think his website info is listed in an older post. He's very kind and the videos are GREAT!! They don't have the SNL performance though, but if you're a new fan you would definitely benefit from these tapes! Making Love Alone is AMAZING--I had to give a senior voice recital this May. The recital consisted of classical songs primarily and I ended up singing a couple musical theatre songs but for my encore piece I actually did Making Love Alone--which was a BLAST and got a very good response(some of the blue hairs didn't like it-but oh well!) LOL

I believe his name is Jeff Barnholdt or something close to that. Here is his website: Jeff tapes. If you can email him through this website, he could probably tell you if he still has the videos for sale. If you search for old threads using "Jeff tapes" or something along those lines, you might find something. I think that is what they are commonly referred to on this board. He also occassionally posts one on Ebay, but I don't see them often.

Where can I find a recording of "Making love alone," or better yet, seeing her perform it on SNL when she was the musical guest? I just downloaded the CD that I was advised had this recording on it, and found out after spending $10 on itunes, that it's not there. Can anyone help?

I think there were licensing problems with "Making Love Alone", which is why it was cut in subsequent releases of the CD. I think the easiest way to get it may be to go to a used CD store.
