Wait a minute wait a minute... I live in NY, so how could I go to the taping? Is it hard to get into?

I've never gone to a Live show, so hopefully someone who has will jump in; until then, from the Live web site:

"If you would like to try and see the show without tickets, we do have a standby line. Standbys are encouraged to come to the studio (corner of West 67th and Columbus Ave.) as early as 7:00AM for a standby number. After our ticket holders are seated, it is first come, first serve from the standby line."

As to whether it's hard to get into, I suppose it depends on who the guests are that day, the weather, whether there are a lot of tourists in town, some imponderable confluence of things I can't even begin to imagine.

I've tried twice to get into Regis and Kelly when Bernadette was on. The first time was in August, and because its in the summer its a popular time for tourists. The second time was in July, also a popular time. Both times I got to the studio at around 4:45 AM (because I'm nuts like that) I got into the August show because a lot of people who already had tickets didn't show up and they let in a lot of the standbys. In July, just about everyone who already had tickets showed up and they let in none of the standbys. It really just depends on the ticketholders and who's on the show that day. If there's someone really good, most of the ticketholders will show up. The weather has a lot to do with it also. If its freezing, people may not want to go.

But, even after standing outside from 4:45 to 9 its so worth it, especially when Bernadette co-hosts. There are excellent photo opportunities during commercials and her and Regis talk to the audience a bit also. Lots of fun. I say go for it, but make sure your at least the first 3 people online.

4:45am is really early, and not really necessary at this time of year. If it were summer (like it was when Megan went) I could see getting there that early. Funny enough, if I go this Friday, I'm not going for the sole purpose of seeing Bernadette co-host...I would be going to see Billy Joel.

Though considering that Billy is a guest, it will probably be pretty much impossible to get in.

Yeah, I agree with Christine. The 4:45 thing was so ridiculous but fun all the same. I would never stand outside in the winter doing that. I also agree about the Billy Joel thing. But if I didn't have school I'd try to get in anyway just because its both Bernadette AND Billy Joel...how cooler can that get?

And how funny that it was Billy Joel who announced the best actress category at the Tonys this year...even though she din't win. I actually forgot that until yesterday when I found the tape and decided to watch some of it.
