Patti LuPone

Listening to it now (original air date 2/10/06). An excellent interview.

Interesting news: she apparently has a new solo recording coming out soon-her Lady with the Torch show. Look for it in April (they said around the 25th).

Amazon link (not much information)

Patti's new album - have been anticipating it since December! Now, if we could just get our Queen's album recorded and released!

I'm hoping for a live recording of the May concert. I know that's only in my head, but still.

Anyway-I want to hear about Angela's reading...when you've recovered enough to post!

Definitely a live recording is call for, Jenn. Let's hope that's she spending some time working on some new material so it will happen! I still think that there is a possibility that the concert will be a part of Live from Lincoln Center.

I'm updating my blog tonight about the weekend in LA with Angie. Jet lag is starting to set in, but I'm so high that it's not bothering me.

WTF? You're all Bernadette Peters fans, why do you like Patti LuPone so much? I think she's pathetic and obnoxious, but I guess that's just me.

It is actually possible, in the adult world, to like more than one person.

It is also possible, in the adult world, to be kind and respectful of others.

On this, a message board dedicated to one of the most kindest and respectful of performers, I say:

What world do you live in.

I was so excited when Patti said several songs on Lady with the Torch are ballads.

We need more Patti ballads. I adore her "Get Here" on her live recording-just wonderful, and I never really thought much of the song before. I really wish she had sung a full "Lost in the Stars"-the snippet we have is just lovely. And there's "Love Makes the World Go Round" from her Matters of the Heart CD. And her "Meadowlark" (not a ballad, I know) on her live recording-I adore her introduction telling us about the many troubles of The Baker's Wife production. She has a quick wit and mind.

I am just so happy that she's had such wonderful reviews for Sweeney Todd and that this is such a fantastic experience for her. She deserves it. She is a consummate performer and isn't above working within the ensemble mold, obviously.

I can say much more about Patti-she's one of my favorites. She is very gracious with her fans-one of the best. She withstood public humiliation and had the last laugh. She delights in her profession, her fellow cast members, is genuinely concerned about current events, and undoubtedly has some *great* stories. Has done and said some things I'm sure she's regretted, but we can't all be angels. I hope she's not kidding about her autobiography.

To quote Forbidden Broadway, "Iiiiiii looove Paaattiiiiii!"
