I attended last week and I have to say it was one of the most thought-provoking and superbly acted dramas I have seen in quite some time. Brian O'Byrne and Cherry Jones give performances of intensity and intelligence. And the subject matter is timely...plus it makes you think twice about casting aspersions against others in highly charged situations.
I'd be interested in hearing other thoughts/comments...

From: NYC | posted: 3/29/2005 at 11:16:54 PM ET My friend is trying to convince me to see if for no other reason to experience the power of Cherry Jones. I'm protesting it because its backers are the same as for "Gem of the Ocean" which was one of the most beautiful plays I ever saw - despite good reviews, it had box office trouble and the backers pulled it from that theater to put in "Doubt".
On another note, if you like plays see "12 Angry Men" and "McReele" both Roundabout productions and both fantastic.

Registered: 6/7/2003 | posted: 4/28/2005 at 6:08:06 AM ET Saw it yesterday--powerful and thought-provoking, Cherry Jones, I agree, superb. Accents of other Sister and occassionally Cherry made it hard to understand their lines (were they miked?) And I really didn't understand Cherry Jone's character's motivation-it was almost like she was waging a vendetta against this poor innocent priest, but why? I'll read the reviews later today.
The fabulous Maggie Smith was in the audience with, I think, the actor Edward Hibbert (spelling awful, still really tired). Matinee was sold out, everyone on the ladies room line afterwards talking about the show--quite unusual.
