I had never seen "Smiles of a Summer Night" before (the source material for Sondheim's "A Little Night Music" and the last of Sondheim's selections to be aired). It is a warm lilting comedy (unusual for Ingmar Bergman) and you can clearly see why Sondheim was inspired to fashion it into a musical.

It's worth keeping an eye open for it it airs on TCM again.
