Does anybody else watch "Gilmore Girls"? Almost every week there is a reference to something on Broadway. For instance, last night they were at a ridiculous little town museum and Lorelai said "we have to hurry and bring all of our friends here before the Neiderlanders swoop in and take it to Broadway". I just think the references are funny - sometimes they are a line from a show. Also, the grandmother is played by Kelly Bishop who won a Tony for Best Featured Actress as Sheila in the original "A Chorus Line".

I do indeed watch Gilmore Girls. I have also noticed several references to Broadway and enjoy them. That show is actually very full of literary, cinematic, and theatre references. I love it. It's a surprisingly intellectual show. :-)

I also am a devoted fan of Gilmore Girls and love the Broadway references! Also, have you noticed that Will and Grace refer to the theatre, esp. through the Jack and Karen characters? Jack often will lead into a line with "Sing out Louise"!or "Sarah Jessica Parker"! or Karen says"You ain't gettin' a dime from me, honey"! Love the script of this show !

To the loveliest lady of song!
You will keep on giving me joy forever...

Oh, OK, here's one: last night in Judging Amy, Maxine (Tyne Daly) and her sort of beau, Ignacio, go on a date to see "Pippin on Wheels"--bad idea, says Maxine.

In the episode where Rory graduates the other guy who makes a speech references Sondheim!

Thanks, All. I checked out this show a few weeks ago after reading the first post here (I had heard of it and knew Kelly Bishop of "Chorus Line" was in it, but had never caught up with it).

What a terrific show!! I'm catching up on episodes and storylines on Gilmore Girls Saturdays. Thanks again.

Ahhh excitement. It's addictive. You'll probably enjoy the "Into the Woods" references in season 1 when one of Rory's classmates leaves school to star as Jack in the Broadway revival (and it really is the kid who played Jack in the revival). lol It's one of my favorite moments when Paris mocks him for it.

I bought Season 3 on DVD today.

More Broadway references...Anyone see Will and Grace Thursday? Jack was filming a segment for his new talk show and they were asking straight people "gay" questions. One person was asked who one the Tony in I forget the year. Later on someone asked "Why is Betty Buckley the answer to every question?"

I love the 'Gilmore Girls'. It is great to hear broadway refernces, however there are times when they are used and they are ment for a bad pun.

In the episode when right before Rorie goes to Yale she uses a history reference based on Jimmy Carter.
