So today I got around to critically looking at my job. The pro/"indifferent"/con list scored a 4/2/12, meaning it's time to jump ship in search of a better job. If you know of any open positions for challenging tech jobs (seriously, not the IT monkey work that is so prevalent) in the Philly area (or more south, e.g. Tennessee -- I'm sick of the north) please send me a message. New business ventures or franchises would also be considered. Resume is at http://kevinlux.info/.

Thanks,

Sorry...I can't help you there. Why Tennessee (and where in TN?)?

If you're looking for tech jobs in the South, I'd look at the Atlanta metro area, the Research Triangle area in North Carolina (Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill), and northern Virginia. Austin, TX if you want something more west, perhaps. Maybe Charlotte, North Carolina.

I don't know your politics, but of those areas, I would rate Charlotte as the most conservative (big NASCAR junket...several drivers live there... but there is an arts community there). All these areas are part of the "New South," and they are hopping.
Just an IMHO from a lifelong Southerner. If you're thinking about other areas in the South, I might know something about them.

I lived in Austin for more than 5 years - great LIBERAL town...used to be lots of tech jobs because Dell is there, but I'm not so sure it's going so well there these days....

Good luck Kevin.

I want away from northern metro people, I think. I feel like I'm bugging out from aggressive people anymore. I want a house on several acres of wooded land so that I can sit out on the deck and not hear people. The northeast just can't give me that for a sane price. I'm extremely unhappy and disenchanted right now.

I'm prepared to leave tech if that's what it takes.
