Yeah, I think it's odd. Kristin Chenoweth seems to have a penchant for veering wildly from one extreme to the other. One minute she's preaching about Jesus to some right-wing women's church group or singing hymns on the 700 Club and the next minute she's prancing around in a bikini in a men's skin magazine and blathering on about her sex life. Isn't there some happy medium, somewhere in between, where she can just calm down and act like a normal person? It's very disconcerting.
Maybe I'm wrong, but she seems to be alienating a lot of people with her antics.
Okay, I've had my say. I now stand back awaiting my (probably justified) crucifixion.

I must add, I'm an advocate of "when you've got it, flaunt it", but for Pete's sake, have some class...and remember what you've said before in order to avoid hypocrisy. Sure she can sing, but her antics may be her downfall. She is supposedly being pursued to sing with the LA Opera and possibly the Met....that behavior may be okay with the LA Opera but all its going to do at the Met is alienate the regular patrons and pack the house with screaming little girls. A good thing? I'm not so sure. Oh dear.

But that's not the basis of this thread, so this is just another reason why one of these days we will need to have a conversation IRL.

| posted: 2/20/2006 at 8:12:36 PM ET I'm not opposed to people posing in their underwear (no matter what their views on religion or other topics) IF it is tastfully done. I am a huge fan of Kristin and her work, but I thought this particular photo spread was tacky. She did another (only a few months ago) in a magazine called "Tango." She was in briefs and a camasol (sp?) tank. It was very cute and tasteful.
I know that in the end, a person has to be responsible for their own actions. BUT I'm sure their were many people (like, maybe her publicist) who are responsible for this as well.
Here is a woman who is trying to make a bigger name for herself. She has these people telling her that they know the business. They know what she should do. So she listens...to what I think was really bad advice.
I wonder what people said when Bernadette posed in Playboy years ago? She might not have been AS underdressed, but she has done some riskay photos in her time.
Just putting that out there for debate. As I said, I thought the FHM spread was tacky.

I'm not sure highly respected is the right phrase for Playboy (at least with a straight face) but all the major celebrities were interviewed in it. A photo spread was different but even celebrities who posed nude in it, didn't lose a lot of credibility. Of course it was a very different time for women when Bernadette was coming up and what they had to do to be noticed and practically all actresses had to start out in the typical T&A roles until they hit it big. I mean just think about Bernadette's early film and television roles (except for The Carol Burnett Show). I think Bernadette's appearance in Playboy kind of symbolized her "arrival" and it was done with a very theatrical flare and, I thought, tastefully done.

| posted: 2/20/2006 at 9:45:11 PM ET I don't know. I think it's fine. She's wearing a bathing suit. What's wrong with that? Am I missing some part of the article? I didn't read where she was talking about her sex life or contradicting prior statements. I am often made fun of for being such a Kristin fan, but in all honesty, both my objective view and subjective view of this spread is that it is fine. But, that's just my opinion. I geuss I'm the loner on this one.

I still agree that she's very talented and charismatic, but her hyperactivity and publicity madness can tend to get on the nerves.

She wouldn't be nearly as famous if all she concentrated on was one thing. I'm sure she's just trying to get whatever work she can. But ofcourse, I'm a big fan of hers.

I don't think that there is anything wrong with that.

I mean think about it...have you ever seen an actor or a singer or any famous person publicizing themselves or their work through just one medium? Kristin wasn't posed or dressed inappropriately in this article. I mean, even Bernadette did Playboy. As long as it's not blatantly vulgar, I don't see the problem with it. Good for her.
