Trust me, when I was younger, my parents were THE WORST about letting me see movies that were rated R. When I was in 6th grade, I had to beg and plead just for them to let me see PG-13!

My advice to you would be asking your mom or dad to watch the movie with you, or to watch it beforehand. It's better than a flat out no, and it shows maturity, because you're telling them you wouldn't sneak behind their back and watch it at your friends house or something. If they watch it before hand, then they can judge for themselves whether you can see it or decide just to "censor" the bad parts! LOL, my mom was THE QUEEN of making me close my eyes while she fast-forwarded! But at least you get to see the bulk of the movie, right?

LOL Not my parents. They let me watch Rated R movies all the time. One of my favorites (which came out when I was 12) was "Interiew With the Vampire." It gave me nightmares all the time, but I was absolutly fascinated by it. I Also loved horror movies, like "Child's Play" and "Pet Semetary." I saw those when I was like 8. I watched PG13 movies when I was 5 years old.
My neighbor's kids are all under 11 years old, and they watch some intense Rated R movies, and they're fine. They're not corrupted.

The nude scene in Pennies From Heaven is short. Yes, there is rape, murder, adultry, prostitution, sex...but the wrong-doers do not make out good in the end; so it's not like it's saying that that is the way to live. At 13 years old, I think you'll be able to handle the movie.

LOL, you're lucky Christine...my mom is nutty about that kind of stuff! Of course she wouldn't embarass me in front of my friends or anything, but she made it perfectly clear that I was NOT to watch anything R rated when I was at my friends houses. Of course I did anyways, (Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion was my first one!) and when she accidentally found out she just told me she was disappointed and that made me feel completely guilty of course! When I was 14-15, she really stopped harping on me all the time because she knew I could handle it.

I have hated horror movies my entire life! I watched the Exorcist once, and I couldn't sleep alone for 2 weeks! I made my sister sleep next to me because I was so scared of devils! Same with really lame horror movies, too. Chucky scares the shit outta me! So does that movie with the little girl who is possessed, I forget the name of it but I remember there is an old lady in the story. I can't understand people who don't get freaked out! Whenever people around me are watching those, I have to leave the room! I have learned a lot about the kinds of books my friends parents read that way LOL...lots of nights spent allll alone in hallways with bookcases while everyone else was watching something! I'm such a dork lol.

You mean "The Others"? The one with Nicole Kidman, and she believes there are people/ghosts in her house. And the little girl turns around in the white vail, and she ends up being an old woman and she says, "I am your daughter." I love that movie. lol

BroadwayBaby123,
The movie with the little girl who is possessed, perhaps it was The Exorcist or Poltergeist (sp?)
I'm not sure which one it is...Anyways, I've never been a fan of scary movies. I get scared to death over something as simple as someone sneaking up behind me and saying "boo"...lol! I have to stick to movies that aren't so scary and dreadful, like Peter Pan for instance....I like to think happy thoughts LOL! (Now if only one could really fly if they thought happy thoughts.....LOL

Poltergeist, that's it!!! That movie is so kitchy and stupid, but it still scares me!

I have to stick to the happy movies too. Although, I am a huge fan of tragedies! I really love "Steel Magnolias" and "Terms of Endearment". The part where the mother says goodbye to her children...well, by that point I have used up about 3 boxes of Kleenex! My favorite happy movie is "You've Got Mail". Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks are so great in that movie!

Oh my goodness, i absolutely love the movie Steel Magnolias!! Weezer is my favorite character, she is soooo funny! Shirley McLaine did a fantastic job with that part. I cry like a baby when Sally Fields has her breakdown at her daughter's gravesite(it's almost as good as Rose's Turn, but not quite..lol)....oh, I can literally start to cry just thinking about it! Such a wonderful movie, i love how there is so much comedy and drama intertwined....if you haven't seen this movie, go rent it!

Isn't that just the saddest movie?! There are some elements I wish they wouldn't have added though, like the lady with the dogs. My favorite character is Dolly Parton's character, the hairdresser. She is so funny! I love how she thinks the solution for any problem is just to tease your hair bigger and bigger!

LOL Weezer is by far my favorite character. "I'm not crazy Malin. I've just been in a very bad mood for forty years!"
I could quote that movie all day. LOL I would love to be Weezer in a stage adaptation.

Another great movie: Beaches
I sob at so many scenes; I won't even name all of them. But every time I hear the song "Wind Beneath My Wings" I cry lik a baby because I picture C.C & the little girl at the funeral, and then the last line of the movie is when they were kids:

Hillary: "Be sure to keep in touch C.C., ok?"

C.C.: "Well sure. We're friends aren't we?"

AHHH, so sad.

Ooooh...Beaches! I love that movie, and I cry everytime I see it, too, lol. And I absolutely *love* "Wind Beneath My Wings."

Awwwww....Beaches, now thats another movie that makes me cry right on the spot. The moment "Wind Beneath My Wings" starts to play, I just lose it....so sad. You know what's funny though? I remember in an epsiode of "The Osbournes", Ozzy is exercising (which is funny in itself) and the song "Wind Beneath My Wings" is playing on his TV and you can see Bette Midler singing. It just cracked me up to see Ozzy exercising and watching Bette singing this song....too funny!

thnx guyz! yeah, my parents are big on the "no R-rated movies" etc..... even now i can only see certain PG-13 movies!!!! AH! sigh... o well, they'll probly let me see it if they see it first or w/ me or w/e. i mean, i've seen Romy & Michelle's High School Reunion (thatz rated R? i didn't kno that!) & like other movies that are pretty suggestive, etc... & they are learning to trust me so hopefully i can see it! i mean, i guess i'm fairly mature for my age. i can handle stuff & they've raised me well! lol

another sad movie: Simon Birch. omg, my whole family was bawling @ the end of that!!!!!!!

also~ wutz the story line of "the jerk"?

OMG "Simon Birch" is such a sad movie. I haven't seen that in so long. And "My Dog Skip."

I think your parents would be ok with you seeing The Jerk as long as it's the Television version. The complete VHS has a lot of adult humor on it that was edited out for the television version.

I've seen both versions, and there is an obvious difference. But the one they show on TV is fine for younger viewers.
