Just so you know, that evening (Aug. 19th) Carol Burnett (for those who are fans of hers) is also doing a book signing for her new memoir at Barnes & Noble in Lincoln Center at 7pm.

From: New York City | posted: 8/5/2003 at 5:39:13 AM ET I'll be at the signing. It's the day after I move to NY, so I'm going to go exploring in the city. (Plus, I have an interview out by the signing the next day, so I want to be sure I know where it is.) I've never been to a signing of anything, though (I've only worked as an assistant to the actors when they had them out at Disney -- like for Star Wars weekends and Super Soap weekends.) At Disney, people would have the opportunity to take pictures and talk to the actor. Is it the same with a CD signing, or are there stricter rules about picture taking, etc?
And the Carol Burnett signing sounds really interesting, too. She's just... such a brilliant comedian. She brings such joy to people. I was so sad for her when her daughter died of cancer.

Regis: And look at all this hair. My God. That's a lot of hair. Look at this. How does hair get this way?
Bernadette: Um.. it sort of grew out of my head like this.

Registered: 6/7/2003 | posted: 8/5/2003 at 2:42:23 PM ET Here's some info on Carol's book, from the Barnes and Noble web site (bn.com):
"Carol Burnett spent most of her childhood in a Depression-scarred Hollywood neighborhood, where she lived in a single-room apartment with her endearingly batty grandmother, Nanny, a hypochondriacal Christian Scientist with a buried past. The child of two alcoholic parents, Burnett presents a sometimes hilarious, sometimes heartbreaking coming-of-age: from her sadly hopeful mother, who was hooked on Tinseltown fantasy, to the first signs of her own comic gift; from happy weekends spent with her father, to their last tragic meeting in a public sanatorium.
Featuring a new Afterword by the author, about teaming up with her daughter to bring this story to Broadway, One More Time is an intimate, touching, and astonishing narrative of a financially desperate but emotionally rich childhood on the wrong side of Hollywood’s tracks."
The book is for sale (or released, I guess) on August 12, 2003.

Registered: 5/3/2002 | posted: 8/6/2003 at 10:39:40 AM ET Too bad. Her first book was great, and I would love to read about her later experiences in show business, but maybe she doesn't want to talk about people who are still around. Oh well, maybe someday, if we're lucky she finally will.

I've never ever been to a signing of any kind, but of course I've got to come out to the Gypsy signing on Aug. 19th. Does anyone know what is a good time to get there? I'm coming from NJ so it's not too far I just want to know like if anyone has a ballpark idea about when lines start to form or whatever and also if you buy the cd at FYE or not? Thanks!
