Does anyone know when the Gypsy soundtrack will come out? I'm dying to get my hands on it! And Does anyone know if Gypsy will be considered for the Tony Awards for 2003? Bernadette Peters changed my life

There hasn't been an announcement about the actual recording of this production yet so they also haven't announced a release date either. And yes, Gypsy is eligible for the 2003 Tonys. I believe the cut off date is either May 7th or 8th and Gypsy is opening on May 1st.

To be elibible for this year's TONYS a show has to open before or on May 7th. Which is why I don't think they will postpone the show much because they'll only have a week in between their opening (which is posted currently) and the cut off date for the TONYS

Yeah with the recent strike I figured they would have to postpone previews and not have as much time to work on the show before the official opening night or they would have to go on as planned but maybe not be as ready as they wanted to be. At any rate I'm glad the strike was so short so they didn't lose too many rehearsals. Just 2 I think, right?

Well, I *think* the actors went on strike as of that Friday at 12am...( then again I know the news was sort of slow to get out so who knows)so that would mean they missed (possibly) *at least* some of Friday's rehearsals, Saturday and Monday and then the strike was settled early early Tuesday. So probably about 3 rehearsals. It also depends on who was on the rehearsal sheet for each day. So it could very well be that the entire casts rehearsals was not affected.

Oh I thought the actors didn't strike until 4 p.m. on Friday though the musicians went out all of Friday. But still, not too many rehearsals.

I honestly don't remember...that means they still would have possibly missed a few hours of Friday's rehearsals...not too bad though Plus, now being towards the end stages of rehearsals, I don't know how productive a 6 hour day( or however long they rehearsed-- if at all) would have been without a possible rehearsal pianist.
