Broadway actress and tony winner Nell Carter passed away today. She was in rehearsals for a new muscial so she was working to the end. She is a few months YOUNGER than Bernadette. So sad. So young.

OMG! That's so sad!!! I just read about her death on Playbill.com before coming here

She was such a wonderful performer!!

That is sad. I saw it on the news earlier today.
I wasn't paying attention as to how she died (if it was even mentioned).
I know her son found her dead this morning, but was it from her diabetes or her weight, or what?

Well I had heard she had lost a lot of weight recently so maybe it was her diabetes or just a lifetime of a not so healthy life catching up with her. Most articles don't mention why she died just that she suffered from diabetes. One article only said she died of natural causes. They probably don't know exactly yet what it was. So sad that her son found her. Poor kid!

That happenedd to my cousin - when my aunt died she found her. I know if it happened to me I'd be screwed up for life. How old is he?

I honestly have no idea what the cause of Nell's death was but I would assume it was associated with her diabetes-- trust me, when it comes to this I know far too much.

On a similair note, as many of you know, Mary Tyler Moore is also a diabetic -- not too long ago she had a health scare. From everything I have heard she is doing ok now but it'd be nice to keep her in your prayers. (Btw-- some of this info was published in severeal newspapers as well...If it wasn't I wouldn't be posting it...just so no one thinks I am spreading around rumors here).Its very important for Mary (and Robert) to get get info. out about diabetes and to help those suffering from the disease to not have the complications she has had. It just makes me so so sad to think that someone so incredibly sweet has been thrown all these obstacles and hardships at her throughout her entire life

But I think if there's anyone who could overcome it and rise above, its Mary!

Her son was 13 and found his mother dead?!?!?! That is horrific! How sad...
