| posted: 10/12/2007 at 11:18:53 AM ET The Goodbye Girl was a movie (in theaters) in 1977. The musical based on the movie with Bernadette was in 1993. The TV movie with Patricia Heaton was just a couple of years ago. So it was actually the 1977 movie that was the earlier movie. I definitely suggest you rent it or catch it on TV some time. So much better than the TV movie.
