FYI...if you ordered tickets for the Bethlehem concert next weekend, they've finally been mailed. Mine arrived today. Oh, and enclosed is a note that says "Please note that dress for the concert is semi-formal."

I'd figured just those who were attending the gala/reception would need to be completely dressed up...I guess I was wrong.

"Let's admit one thing right upfront: With the possible exception of Bernadette Peters, not everyone stays young and cute forever." (NYPost 2/2/05)

Yup, I got mine today as well.

I went to a Gala reception for the Patti LuPone concert in June and it was semi-dress. patti didn't even attend. lol I had a feeling she might not. My friends and I didn't really care. We were there for the free drinks and chocolate fondue.

I'll try to remember to wear jeans that are clean and non-torn (I must have a pair around somewhere).

Here's your clue as to what to wear:

Zoellner will be dressed for the occasion, sporting the theme “Everything’s Coming Up Roses,” echoing the well-known song from Gypsy

The note in my tickets mentioned the "black tie optional." Is that the same as semi-formal? Still trying to find out what semi-formal is.

I have 3 (!) of "Gypsy's" white satin elbow length gloves that you-all may borrow.

I see that Emily Post was a Western imperialist clothing fascist.

Up Against the Wall, Emily!

I swear, dress codes are as bad as thought codes, and should only be ignored or defied.

Karen, I'm certain I am what you might consider part of an older generation! But, I have always considered my "dress to fit the occasion', and in doing so, show respect for the person giving the party, or in this case, performing as a great artist such as Bernadette. I always dress-up a little when attending her performances, and feel I am honoring her in so doing. Old-fashioned? Maybe. But when I meet her at the stage door, I never feel ashamed of how I look! I hate to think people are attending this concert tonight looking like they didn't think of this beautiful woman!

To the loveliest lady of song!
You will keep on giving me joy forever...

There were people wearing gowns and tuxedos at the Tilles concert tonight. I felt like I was at a middle-aged prom. It seemed slightly ridiculous. I've seen people less dressy at Carnegie Hall. I guess when you don't get out much, it's nice to wear a gown.
I wore one on New Year's Eve with sneakers and a party hat....just for laughs.

I always believe in dressing nicely for a concert such as Bernadette's; but evening gowns? This is not the Tony Awards.

HaHa of course, now that I said that, watch me show up in a fancy dress next week. I tend to do things on a whim.

Zoellner will be dressed for the occasion, sporting the theme ''Everything's Coming Up Roses,'' echoing the song from ''Gypsy,'' one of Peter's Tony-nominated roles.

I've been counting down privately for a while...but now the official countdown begins: approximately 59.17 hours until we hear those wonderful words "Ladies and Gentlemen, Miss Bernadette Peterrrrs!".

(I'm especially looking forward to the gathering of Fanadettes!)

I've been sort of silently counting down too. It's also exciting for me b/c I live locally so it's almost like having Bernadette over to my house--haha...almost... I've never met anyone from this site so that will be fun as well. I don't post constantly but I always read your posts so I feel like I sort of know you from those. I just only hope and pray that these appearances are helping our Bernadette and not burdening her. I mean, from a selfish stand point I'm THRILLED that she is coming, I've never seen her in concert and this may be my only chance to but I also know what it's like to perform with something else on your mind--difficult at best...but she is a pro and I'm sure the concert will be amazing.

Under 38 hours to go. I'm tired. I don't feel like doing math. I can't wait to see everybody and see our Queen.

Yay for all the concert-goers! I'll be at an Astros party, cheering for my new city. First game of the World Series is tonight!

Jenn, happy to have something really good to cheer about
