I just heard the news today and am at a complete loss for words. This is so tragic. Could someone post what was said on Regis or the other programs? (I'm studying abroad so I can't watch them) Thank you in advance
My thoughts are with Bernadette and Michael's family

Lindsey,
Regis mentioned the news and then said how depressed he was. Kelly said she found out the night before and didn't want to tell Regis because she knew how sad he would be. Then, Regis said some nice things about Michael and how he always saw him at the gym and about how great a love story theirs was. It was very brief but very poignant.
I cannot comment on the other shows, as I did not see them. Perhaps someone else could fill you in on those.

I saw most of the programs that mentioned Michael's passing. Entertainment Tonight explained how they met and showed Regis's comments from "Live." Also, just to mention about "Live," when Regis and Kelly informed the audience, you could hear the audience gasp from shock and sadness. Inside Edition was probably the most detailed of all the shows, though they showed the crash scene. The Today Show just had a little blurb about it.
I was looking on yahoo's "buzz log"and it tracks what people have been searching in various categories. In the actor category, Bernadette Peters is listed as number 1, the number of searches about her being up 1405.65%! I've always known that Bernadette is a special lady, but I really had no idea that so many people would react the way they have.

Katie, I just looked at Yahoo and not only is she the first person listed in the actors category she is the second listed in the overall category, just behind Tom Delay. Really is a testament.

Bernadette just didn't deserve such a devasting, shocking, tragic blow to her life. What I'm finding so incredibly sad right now is seeing all our little avators and how she looks so happy in all of them - it makes me wonder if we will ever see her so happy again. Every song she has every sung has been tainted with sadness now and I can only hope she can find the strength to get through this and go on with her career. The career that Michael was evidently so proud and supportive of. I can't even try to comprehend how she must be feeling at the moment but I do hope that in some small way, in a way I can't understand, our love for her can help her through this. I feel completely helpless - I don't know her and she doesn't know me but I have an overwhelming feeling of sympathy right now.

LOL I find it completely amusing that a Giant Squid is number one. HOW many people actually google "Giant Squid"!?

Christine, the giant squid was photographed for the first time this month, so that's probably why the searches are high. I was surprised as well.
I check the zeitgest every week, and sometimes the searches aren't so clear to me (such as #2's serenity. Turns out it's a new movie. I have a feeling that some searches, unless it's some sort of newsworthy item, holiday, etc are "helped." And I always have a moment of sympathy for the "declining queries.")
(I know I wasn't googling giant squid.)
I'm posting another similar link in the off-topic board (nothing to do with Bernadette-I don't want to overtake this particular thread).

Wow, haven't been round these parts in awhile. Hey Christine! *waves*
Anyway, I just wanted to add my condolences (albiet a little late) on this terrible tragedy. Nobody should ever have to lose a loved one so young (be it a husband, brother, sister, what-have-you.) I'd like to believe that there is a reason for all things, and that maybe this terrible tragedy will allow for some sort of good in the world--be it Bernadette's fans contributing to a charity in Michael's name and therefore helping a lot of people, or Bernadette herself somehow finding a silver lining somehow. I'd like to believe that no death is ever in vain, so that is all I can hope for, and of course, my thoughts are with them.

One of the articles mentioned an article from a site called serbianna.com. This is the article. Serbia-Montenegro is six hours ahead of the United States.
The article apparently was one of the first articles published about the crash (it was published on the 26th, the day of the crash). Mile Dragic has since been released from prison.
It will be a month this Wednesday.
