also! i won an auction for bernadette clippings and it has got some really old "you won't have seen before" pictures with them. when they arrive, I'll try and get my scanner up and running again because at the moment its "offline"

same here. her hair looks quite modern actually-the whole photo does but the thing is......I miss her curls! I never knew she had short hair

Her appearance in that photo is the way she was made up to play the Giulletta Massina character in the musical La Strada which opened and closed in Dec.1969. I don't think that was ever the way she went around looking in real life. I guess they just cut her hair very short and straightened it because that was the way the character looked in the original film.

Actually I think at the time she had her hair pretty regularly straigtened. If you see her early television work, her hair is quite straight with a few curls. She didn't let her natural curls come back until like late 70's. She's mentioned a few times about the fact that curls were not in during the 60s and how on rainy days she was afraid everyone would discover her secret (her curls). LOL
