OK, can we discuss the Sunday in the Park DVD audio commentary and how frustrating it is that Bernadette barely gets a word in?! ARGH! I have only watched the first act, but so far, she has said maybe 2 sentences. Mandy Patinkin is such a chatty cathy, it is driving me nuts. For those of you who have seen it, does she get to comment much in the second act?

She talks a little more during the Second Act but not much. I think it is a combination of the men in the room not giving her a chance and the fact that Bernadette is somewhat naturally quiet and I think prefers to listen more than talk.

Keep your ears open for the discussion of her act two old lady make-up and Mandy's "Down Girl". It's quite funny.

Okay cool, thank you Kathleen

I was also wondering, do you think she was pretty emotional watching the first act and that could be another reason for her quietness? All three seemed pretty emotional watching it, but of course the men kept on talking and talking!

I didn't get that feeling though I guess it is possible. Mandy is extremely emotional toward the end of Act II and Bernadette acts like a little psychiatrist for him which I think also reveals a lot about her.

my favorite part of the commentary is during the number "color and light" when they all start laughing about Bernadette doing her follies number - it's quite cute - and then after they continue to talk about Bernadette's hair and how gorgeous it is.

i also thought it was funny that during the commentary mandy mainly talks about himself but whenever sondheim speaks he mostly addresses what bernadettes doing. and i also loved when james lapine and sondheim were talking about how good they were jokingly and were like oh listen to us and then bernadette says so idealistically "but we mean it!!" its so cute

I had never listened to the commentary so after reading your posts, I listened last night. It was fun although hard to hear at times. I had to turn the volume all the way up. I thought the funniest part was everytime they showed a close up of Bernadette as Marie, everybody would giggle because she was so deadpan as the old lady. It was great.

Yup. I bought it off of Amazon about a month ago. It's about 25 dollars or so. Definitely worth it.
