Now, Christine! How did you manage to get better seats than Bernadette's family!

Just kidding!!!

P.S. It's a good thing that you didn't hurt Maureen Moore during intermission. If you had she would have never been able to sing those couple of songs in the second act!

hahaha good one PA. About Maureen.

I knew it was her family and friends because I've met them before. Well, her husband, publicist, and producer I've met...plus I know what her sister looks like from pictures and because she looks like Bernadette. lol I believe Bernadette's house seats were just always the 6th row center orchestra, because that is where her family sat on opening night as well.

Sunny, I don't quite remember which scene it was when she put her face in her hands, but I think it was right before she sang Rose's Turn. ??

Wasn't it after Rose's Turn's when she is talking to Louise. Before they hug. You may be right though as it kind of all is a blurr. I also saw Tessie and Agnes give their last look to each other. God, that was powerful! In the scene in Pop's apartment, I could tell Bernadette and Addison were about to lose it. When Baby Louise went over to Rose, well they were just looking at each other with teared filled eyes. I don't believe Bernadette even grabbed Addison's hands when she said the line about her being able to read palms. I assumed because they were both just trying to get their lines out. It was very emotional. Also during Some People, Bernadette slammed the door soooooo hard that it actually rocked back and forth for several seconds. I really think she almost knocked the whole frame down. LOL

Oh my God, I know! I actually shook/jumped because she slammed that door so hard.

Also, when she gives Baby June a hug before she goes to bed, she lifted Heather Tepe off the ground. lol it was so cute.
And John was clearly so proud of the kids when they got that amazing applause before the strobe lighting. He had such a "proud father" look on his face.

Ah yes! That was so cute when she lifted Heather up. And Rose and Herbie's kiss in the Chinese Restaurant, well that was different I thought. Usually Bernadette's back kind of stays to the audience but John kind of moved her sideways and dipped her a little. It made the kiss really sweet, I thought. So many moments to remember.

I would just really like to thank all of you WONDERFULL people for sharing all of these awesome moments that will go down in Gypsy history forver. I saw the show 2 weeks ago, and yet I was still so sad I could not be there last night, but with all of your details about the show, it made as if I was there, experiencing all of these great moments myself, so I thank all of you, for taking your time out in making our imaginations of last night, turn into memories that we can all share.

ANOTHER SCARY MOMENT: When Rose and Herbie finally call it quits before the Gypsy Strip, there was so much passion and the scene was so strong that Bernadette pushed John so hard that he almost literally flew back! I thought he was going to fall right on his bum!!! A HUGE tear-jerking moment!

Yes! Though that moment almost gave me a chuckle. She is so small compared to John and just put her entire body weight behind that push and really did make him stumble back a few steps. Though I was also taken aback at how he screamed at her. I think she jumped back a little too.

It's now 2 days after the last show and I'm still high! I'm just now getting back to my computer. Thanks to everybody who described the day. It was just heavenly. Bernadette just blew the roof off the joint. It was the most spectacular live performance I have ever seen - EVER! Can you believe that I was sitting next to a family from out of town who was seeing it for the first time? They were a little taken aback by all the standing ovations but by the second act they were joining in too. A person just couldn't help but jump to her feet! WOW! And it was so fun hanging out with you PAFan, LaCageAuxBoy and Chip before the show. It was fun meeting you other posters too. How exciting it was too see Stephen Sondheim and Arthur Laurentz and see LaCageAuxBoy and Chip be so excited too! You guys are definitely going to be stars with the influences you have - don't forget us when you are stars, we want special treatment! LOL! This morning I was recounting the day to my friend who is a major Wicked Fan. She didn't know that Kristin Chenoweth's role has been recast and told me that she has been trying to figure out who could do it. She had a lightbulb moments and said of course - Bernadette! She has never posted on this website and didn't know about the discussions that already took place about the subject. I have to say I wish it would happen! Anyway, I'll be singing Some People in my office all day today driving my co-workers nuts.

Yes, she did. She already has to be emotional in that scene for character purposes, but she just let all of the emotions out that night. lol I'm STILL replaying the entire thing in my head. It was so magnificant.

That's so funny about that family seeing it for the first time. I was wondering how many people there had never seen it before, and/or didn't realize it was the last performance.

In the better-late-than-never category:

There have been some great posts here (thanks to those who had up-close-and-personal seats and related the on-stage emotions I could sense 15 rows back but could not quite see), but for the record, I'll just throw in my two cents. I only got back home last night and have had a busy morning at work.

I saw "Wicked" for the first time Saturday afternoon. A-freakin'-mazing show. The set designs alone... So I'm thinking, well, the ninth time seeing "Gypsy" is going to be anti-climactic after that, even if it is the last performance.

No. Wrong.

It was the best, just the best. I was so, so very glad I made the trip. A lifetime memory.

It was a love fest from the start, but after "Some People," which Bernadette sang better and stronger than I've ever heard her, with so much energy, I knew this would be a special, special performance. (I was happy that Bliss negated that Anonymous poster last week who wrote that Peters' voice was wrecked. Sunday afternoon, I thought it was stronger and more powerful than ever.) I noticed several different things, little bits of business I'd not seen before (such as in "You'll Never Get Away From Me," when Herbie and Rose first dance together, John stood stiff at first and Bernadette, with arms around him, dance wildly alone; funny stuff.) I thought Tammy's Gypsy strip and fight scene were her strongest yet (she really did seem to be "beginning to like this.") I noticed Heather really laughing as Mazeppa was doing her bit. Near the end I couldn't help thinking, "They CAN'T close this show. It's better than when it opened. This bunch is just getting started."

It's been almost a year since the first time I had the good fortune to see this show (June 12). What a great year. I would just like publically to say: What a pleasure and privilege it has been to have seen this wonderful, extraordinary cast and the grande dame of the musical theater, Bernadette Peters. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Yeah, agreed! Bliss, if you are reading this, Heather Lee was hysterical at the horn solo!!!! She was crying hard, and laughing harder! SHe was hysterical! It was hilarious! As audience members, I think we all felt like we were a part of the family that this cast was. Being at the last show was like getting together with our closest friends for the last time, regaurdless of the fact that we don't really even know any of you! It was amazing...
