This may be a crazy thought but...I was reading in some thread where you all were talking a bit about The Glass Menagerie-I don't know if this has come up before BUT...I was reading the script last night(I performed in it a few years back and haven't read it in a while) and you know what I was thinking...Bernadette would be PERFECT for the role of Amanda Wingfield! Especially after doing a role such as Mama Rose. I think she is TOTALLY Amanda Wingfield--she would bring such a different spin on the character. AND if you go to her official website there's a chat transcript with her and she says that she would like to do some Tennessee Williams-that was a while ago...but still!
What do you all think?

Actually Justin, she has not only said she would like to do some Tennessee Williams but she has specifically said she wants to play Amanda in The Glass Menagerie. When they first announced this play was coming to Broadway I thought what unfortunate timing because it would be great for Bernadette to play the part at this point in her career. But she was doing Gypsy. Even though the play is now being recast and Gypsy is coming to an end, I'm still thinking it will go into production too soon after Gypsy. I would imagine Bernadette would like to take some time off before delving into another Broadway production. But then again sometimes these productions get postponed for a few years and maybe in the end, Bernadette will get the role. I sure hope so.

WOW! I didn't know that she specifically said something about Amanda Wingfield. She would be perfect for that role. Yes that is interesting that now they're recasting, although I agree with you she will probably take a much need long break after Gypsy-but then again who knows...this woman never seems to stop!  Maybe if we're lucky we'll get to see her on b-way again!
