I am only going to post a message concerning this topic one more time. If anyone chooses to reply, feel free, for I will no longer waste space for such infintile reasons (and I appologize to other board users for the space that has been consumed already).

I apologize to you (anonymous user) for saying "Get off my back" and "Get over it." Perhaps it was a wrong choice of words on my part. However, refering to me as a "Childish brat" is uncalled for criticism. I have never once attacked your character, nor have I gotten as worked up about this situation as you have.

In response to your last remark, I have been expressing my feelings intelligently. I have stated my opinion (while never attacking the characteristics of those from the original topic...EX: Steve Martin, Bernadette Peters, and Gregory Hines). I have only said good things about those people, but merely shared my opinion as to what Gary Smith (whom Dana quoted) said about this year's hosts from the TONY's.

You're absolutely correct, everyone has the right to post anonymously if they choose; and again, I apologize to anyone who does post anonymously on this board; your opinions are appreciated and welcomed. When I made that comment toward this particular person, I was merely refering to the fact that they have argued back, repetitively, without leaving any clue as to who they are or how they can be reached (other than this board).

For those of you who have been kind enough to put up with this fueding, and for those of you who have taken the time to read what I felt was necessary to say, thank you.

~<3Christine

"Get off my back" is NOT constructive criticism, it is a comment stemming from a childish brat who can't think of an intelligent way to express her opinions. In addition, people have the right to post anonymously- I could make up a name and that wouldn't make the slightest difference, would it?

It's not your fault Dana, you were just giving your opinion (as was I). However, some people just can't handle constructive criticism and therefore retaliate with negative attacks on people they don't even know. At least you and I were open to comentary, and did not post our messages anonymously.

"Get off my back" "Get over it"

Excuse me, but retorical questions are not the type of questions you ask on a MESSAGE BOARD where people communicate. You don't need to have a little spazz attack. why don't YOU get over it?!

I know he's a playwrite people, so get off my back! I simply meant that more often than not audiences associate "Broadway" with musical theatre; performers such as Bernadette Peters and Gregory Hines are more recognizable to those that do not come to NY very often, or see many shows, but still love Broadway and theatre. When I said, "Please tell me what Steve Martin has to do with Broadway," it was meant in a retorical manner. I know he is associated with Broadway, I just meant in comparison to those that have been there for audiences to watch (the actors, not the playwrites) and associate with theatre.
Now, I've lived in NYC my entire life and I feel this way; and it is just my opinion, so get over it!

I'm not saying anything bad about Steve Martin; he happens to be a brilliant man and one of my favorite actors/comedians. All I was saying is that to have him host the TONY's is not very logical when compared to people like Bernadette and Gregory (who are more associated with theatre).

Steve Martin is a playwright. This year there is a very successful production of one of his plays. So he does have something to do with theater.

I completely agree! Just wait until Bernadette is getting her third TONY for GYPSY next season; then let them say she's not a ratings grabber!
I thought the show was a vast improvment on last year's, and Bernadette and Gregory's duet was terrific.
& please tell me what Steve Martin has to do with Broadway!!!!!! Come On!

Read what this guy Gary Smith (the exec. producer of the Tony's said):

"Smith wanted (Nathan) Lane back this year or Steve Martin, who has handled similar duties for the Academy Awards. He settled for Bernadette Peters and Gregory Hines, gold-plated theater stars if not exactly ratings-grabbers."

That REALLY pisses me off!!! He SETTLED for Bernadette??? Who does this guy think he is?? OMG!!! He'd rather have Steve Martin?? I can't stand it!!! Oh, and Bernadette isn't a ratings grabber?? Ask a Bernadette Peters fan... JERK!!!

Dana
