Hey! Well it's about time I start thinking about college and I was
wondering if anyone knew of anyone colleges who had good theatre
departments...I really want to go to Northwestern University but I
figured I should "play the field". lol! Anyway, I've talked to some
people but I always forget what colleges they tell me (that's me for
ya). SO if you know of any let me know! Thanks! -Eric

I've applied to UCLA, UCSB is supposed to have a good theater dept, but it's a
party school. NYU is ok, i guess, it's really expensive. Acadamy of Dramatic
Arts is probably a neat idea too, but you could only get an Associate's
Degree, not a Bachelor's, that's the reason my dad said no way to any of the
AoArts schools. Hope that gave you some ideas. By the way, did you know
Charlton Heston went to Northwestern???

I'd be remiss as a graduate is I didn't recommend Shenandoah University in
Winchester, VA. Great music program - and they have a music theatre major.
When I was there it was VERY small. It's grown considerably!

I've been looking at colleges lately too for theatre (I'm in the class of
2000.) Here are some that I've found:

NYU - Tisch School for the Performing Arts... has a very impressive program.
Syracuse - Another great program. From what I've heard, the freshman class
performance for the fall of 2000 (this would include all those graduating high
school in june of 2000) will be "Sunday in the Park with George"!
Fordham - I believe that their musical theatre program is at Lincoln Center
Columbia University - well, it's Ivy league.... you need more than talent to
get in here! lol

If you're looking for musical theater, Emerson has a great musical theater
department. And for drama, the University of Utah has a great drama school
and so does Rutgers.

*STILL URGING* Fredonia! LOL... I grew up there (well, 9, 10 years..
lol...I'm only 12!!)... But it rules!!! Downtown is really cool, and
pretty conveniently located to it... Anyone that wants to learn more
about SUNY Fredonia feel free to e-mail my dad at:
courtney@a... (He'll probably send you a bunch of links and
some information based on his knowledge) and check out
http://www.fredonia.edu

Amy
P.S.- Sorry, I get al excited to spread the news of Fredonia when I have
a chance! My brother says people from NYC go there for the theatrical
program. They do an opera every year, and other stuff too... pretty cool
place... And it's got a GREAT hill to sled on! LOL

all I have to say is DEPAUL. absolutely amazing drama school. Boston
University is great too. NYU is pretty good, I've heard good things about
Purchase... um... and if you are brilliant Yale drama is the best in the
country.

a lot of successful Bway people went to Yale... though I do recommend it more
for grad school than for undergrad. NYU-Tisch, too.

I have a friend that goes to Fredonia (and is very involved with theater..
although I guess she really wants to be a director, as opposed to an
actress?) and loves it! I haven't talked to her in a while, but she
mentioned something about "Our Town" and "Dracula" (I think?) and that the
productions were wonderful.

Anyway, that's my Fredonia input :)
