See headers | I think Bernadette was a lovely Fay, but then I love the sweeter part of her
voice. I think she's a great belter, too, but the thing that I think gives
Bernadette her "edge" is the fact that she is an emotional performer - belting
or not. Anybody can belt - and I'm a belter from hell, so I can say that -
but not all singers communicate the way Bernadette does, and I think she does
an especially nice job in Anyone Can Whistle. (I must say I don't care much
for "There's Always a Woman")
I've said this before, but I don't think Bernadette is the Mama Rose type.
Yes, she can sing it, she can probably act it. But I just don't think I would
buy it. I hope she gets the chance to prove me wrong.
