Well, she sings more than a "snippet", and I think she's a lot better choice
then a lot of other actresses who can barely act, let alone sing. But
knowing ALW (figure of speech, unfortunatly, I don't :-) he'll probably dump
her and get someone who will only warble through the role, looking big-eyed
and stoned (But then again, what else is there to Christine? ;-). After all,
this *is* the man who cast /MADONNA/ in Evita. AND made a movie out of Cats!
AND has cast Patti Lupone in one of his musicals, and then another!
*shudder* Sorry, Andrew, but you're nuts. :-)

See headers | I think Patti LuPone is a TERRIFIC singer and actress..............I think ALW
BIG mistake was putting Glenn Close in SB.
Kate Winslet....hmmm...perhaps.

Well, I didn't say she COULDN'T sing, I just said I would need to hear more
than what I heard in S&S to prove that she could sing Christine. Like I said,
I like Kate Winslet - I think she's a pretty decent actress (she did her best
with the insipid dialogue they gave her in Titanic - bless her heart). I had
never heard of her doing musicals -- so now I've been enlightened. (By the
way, where did she perform them? I'm usually pretty up on my Broadway trivia
- I'm not sure how that got by me.) However, I don't really care all that
much what ALW does - I'm not a fan of his or of Phantom. I did see Evita,
though, and thought Patti Lupone was pretty damn amazing (you either like her
or you don't - that seems to be the way).
Also, just to keep this on subject, I saw Bernadette Peters in ALW's Song &
Dance (several times in fact). She was great - not the best singing I've ever
heard her do, but emotionally fabulous!

See headers | Just to tell you...Sarah Brightman performed "Song and Dance" for PBS.
"S&D" is my fav Bernadette cast album (maybe because it's ALL her)
and someone mentioned having seen the show...did anyone else get to
see BP in it? I'd like to hear more about it. I mean it's pretty
awesome when you can tell someone DESERVES every award from just
listening to a cast album it must've been AWESOME on stage. -Eric

Here's some thing interesting: Once, I wanted to make a copy of some
of the songs from Sunset Boulevard, and I had both copies from the
library. I listened to both countless times, but I couldn't tell
which was better when it came to Patti and Glenn. So, I decided the
only thing to do was play both CDs at once! I discovered that Glenn
sang at a slower tempo than Patti. I chose Patti for most, except
for "As If We Never Said Goodbye," but only because I liked the
ending better.
