First and foremost, to the mailing lists for which this is a flagrantly
off-topic subject, I apologize for any inconvenience. But I think this is
important, and wanted you guys to be included as well.

On this coming Friday, September 29, Madeline Kahn would have been 58 years
old, had ovarian cancer not taken her before her time. As most of you
already know (and as the rest of you have probably figured out for
yourselves), Madeline was my favorite actress. I know we have all grown
accustomed to the deification of celebrities who have passed away, so much so
that it is difficult to say anything that carries any weight. But believe
me, with Madeline, every single thing they said was true. She really was in
a class by herself. She almost defies description.

When Madeline announced her illness with ovarian cancer, she issued a
statement in which she urged everyone to support the work of the Ovarian
Cancer Research Fund, a New York-based organization which is working to find
an effective means of diagnosing this insidious disease. As it is, 75% of
cases are detected late.

All year, I have been collecting money at my workplace for the OCRF. I am
going to do is send it in this week, as a birthday present for Madeline. I
am greatly hoping that I can get everyone I possibly can to send
contributions in this week, too, for Madeline's birthday. Please, if you
can, send in a donation this week. It's extremely easy to make donations
through the OCRF website at www.ocrf.org. You can also call the OCRF at
(212) 268-1002, or at 1-800-873-9569, and here is their address:

The Ovarian Cancer Research Fund, Inc.
One Pennsylvania Plaza
Suite 1610
New York, NY 10119-0165

And if you know someone else who would be interested in making a donation,
then please send this their way, the more help, the better.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give... and thanks for just reading
this email, guys. I really want to make a difference here, and I know that
we can. Anything to ask me or tell me, just email me.

Love,
Ben
