Bernadette tries to make it every show, and she done a great job so far! I
mean, she's only missed the ones where she PLANNED to be out, and I think she
missed ONE OTHER. She's a trooper and will even perform when she's got a
cold. She will be there, I wouldn't worry. However, she doesn't come out of
the stage door after matinees. She might go out to walk her dogs (I've been
told they've been seen coming out of the stage door a couple times) but I
don't know. Have fun and good luck!!!

You know, it's interesting; I've heard that for the majority of Bernadette's shows, she's not really faithful about making every one. Like, she's miss one or two a week. But for ANNIE GET YOUR GUN, she's done every one except for her vacation and that time she puked on the wings. Food for thought.

Well, I hope she's there tomorrow night (I REALLY hope she's there)...on a
whim today, in order to use the Playbill discount before it expired, I called
and got tickets to the show. So tomorrow night, I'll be sitting Row D,
Center Orchestra<g>. I am *so* excited...I've never been able to get tickets
that good to ANY show, and the fact that I'll be close enough to see the
stage without squinting<g>, especially when it's Bernadette Peters and I've
never seen her before...I'm a happy camper.

Well, I'm back from AGYG....

Just my luck...the night I go...the night I have 4th row center orchestra seats...the first time I've ever seen her live...she got sick in the middle of the show.

I'm not sure what happened, but she made it through most of the first act. To *me*, I could tell there was something off, I kept hearing her voice catch in her throat a little. Even so, it was amazing being ten feet from the stage and being able to see her sing up close. Then right at "My Defenses Are Down", the orchestra stopped playing, and we heard an announcement over the loudspeaker that Ms. Peters was ill, and there would be a 20 minute intermission. Ten minutes later, they announce that she'll finish the first act. Then, during intermission, they announce that she'll be unable to finish the show, and her standby would be taking over for the second act.

Don't get me wrong...the standby was absolutely *wonderful*. To do what she did, to step in during the middle of a show, take over for a major star, to take over for Bernadette Peters took not only courage, but some major talent. And she had both. I was very, VERY impressed with her, and the fact that she was so good made it much easier to stomach missing BP in the second act.

Now, though..since it's been over, yeah, disappointment is settling in. There's no blame to be applied to anyone, as it could have happened anywhere. I'm just very, very disappointed. I'll have to go back and see it again so I can see her all the way through.

Still, I've got to tell you, if you're going and your Annie is Karyn Quackenbush, you will be in for a *good* show.

Amanda
