Hey eveyone,
Well yesterday was not a fun day of rehersal. Our
show is a week from today, and our director decided it
was time to get us really into character. We playes
the imfamous west side story game, well really
excersise, game implies fun, and this was far from
fun. I'll give the readers digest version cause I
could describe the excersise in a short story from all
that I remeber about it. We all had to get in our
gangs and look at our leader while officer krupke
yelled in our ears "look at him!" I'm one of the
Jets, the sharks had it worse. they had Shrank
yelling all sorts of things at them about how he hated
them and why didnt they stay where they belong and all
sorts of intense things, and you could never take your
eyes off your leader. the Mr Tursi (our director)
moved people. I had to stare at the fence. And
Bernardo and Riff went around to memebers of the
opposite gangs and told them how much they hated them.
And it made me feel so alone, and I felt so trapped
by just looking at the fence, and Im not
clostrophobic. And when we were allowed to go back to
our gangs with our leaders i felt so relieved. And
then we were allowed to talk with our leaders, and it
was so intense, people cried and said things like "how
could you leave us, what are we going to do without
you". It was such a hard thing to do. It made you
feel feelings of hate youve never felt before, and its
really hard cause the people you hate are your close
friends. Has anyone esle ever done excersises like
these? I know there are a ton of actors and actresses
on the list, and I was just curiouse. Sorry if i
bummed anyone out or anything.

Andy
