See headers | Hey everyone.
So I went to a local highschool's production of "The
Secret Garden" last weekend and it was so
breathtaking, the show by itself and their
preformance, I was so immpressed! But I absolutly
fell in love with the show, and i bought the cd and I
saw that both Robert Westenburg (cinderellas prince in
ITW, like everyone knows :-) ) and also Mandy
Patakin. I know theres quit a few Mandy fans on this
list. Does anyone else like this show? OH! And one
last thing, I know sheet music has been a topic on the
list lately. And now I have a question of my own. In
the secret garden theres this song "I Heard Someone
Crying", its such an awesome trio! But unfortunatly
its not in the generic book that you can buy at
stores. Does anyone know how to obtain this song? I
tried going to that sheet-music.com, but i couldnt
really get anywhere on it. So if anyone can help me
with this i would be most greatfull. :-)

See headers | I LOVE Secret Garden. Last October I went and saw a production three times
during it's three week run, lol. (that may have been because my good friend
was playing Mary, but that's okay. That's another Bernadette connection:
Cassidy [the girl who played Mary] played Bernadette's little sister in
Annie Get Your Gun. http://www.geocities.com/cassidyladden/ [shameless
promotion]) It is a show that really needs to be seen live. Some of the
harmonies are so gorgeous, they just suck you right in.
"I Heard Someone Crying" is not in the vocal selections, although it's in
the score book if you have enough $$$ to shell out for that. (it's $100)
I keep looking at it, but I don't want to spend $100 on sheet music for one
show, even if it is the entire score. It's one of my favorite songs from
the show, but not worth the price tag. I saw the vocal score today in a
sheet music store in Boston, so it's readily available, I'm assuming.
Robert Westenberg & Mandy Patinkin's duet, "Lily's Eyes," is another
favorite. It's wonderful. Neville is not the most wonderful character,
undeveloped and such, but the song is gorgeous.

See headers | yeah! The Secret Garden is a wonderful show....i was really surprised on how
good the music was when i first heard it...i thought it was gonna be one of
those shows that was just a "get rich quick" scheme for some investors
looking to cash in on a musical based from a classic novel...
but it was well put together, and has become a favorite for many...
oh yeah...westenburg and patinkin were both in "Sunday In The Park With
George" too (along with our beloved bernadette)....westenburg was one of the
soldiers in the painting and patinkin was..well, everybody knows what
patinkin was...
i think westenburg is a really underrated actor...i'm waiting to see or hear
him in a vehicle role...he's been in some really GREAT shows over the years,
and i think he's totally capable of doing lead work at the broadway level...
Sondheim seems to be fairly fond of him, so maybe he'll create a part for
him one day...

along with westenburg, i believe there was another woman that was in both
sunday in the park and into the woods...she played one of the step sisters
(or the stepmother maybe, i'm not sure) in into the woods...and was one of
the soldier's girls in SITPWG.....
So we've seen Mandy with bernadette...mandy with r. westenburg...bernadette
with r. westenburg..... I think it's about time we get a musical with
bernadette and victor garber... wouldn't that be awesome??? i know sondheim
is really fond of them both...so that'd probably be the best bet...

See headers | Danielle Ferland was in both of these productions too. (Little Red in ITW,
and the girl in SITPWG.. I can't remember her name... I believe she's on
either the movie or the sndtk but not both.... she's on the sndtrk)
The elder woman was also in both...Barbra Bryne.. she's Jack's mom in ITW,
and Georges mom in SITPWG.
Another interesting tidbit to also add is that Danielle Ferland played with
Cassidy in Secret Garden at North Shore Music Theatre(where I worked this
summer... grrr.)

See headers | I really like SECRET GARDEN's music. I like LILY'S HAZEL EYES one, also for a singing class we had to do "How Could I Know?" Beautiful songs.

See headers | I love "The Secret Garden." I've never seen it, but I have the cassette. I listen to it almost as much as I listen the musicals I have with Bernadette.
