I saw her for the second time in concert this past weekend.. As usual she
was amazing. (She always does the same concert) Afterwards there were
bodyguards lined up along the exit to the limo. She signed to autographs and
climbed into the limo. I happened to notice in the program that the concert
was sponsored by the Hyatt, so I hauled ass 9 blocks in heals and a short
dress and she was just getting out of the limo when I got there. I now have
had the pleasure of meeting my favorite singer (who I've been waiting to
meet since I was four and I'm 21 now) PLUS I have a personalized
autograph!!!
Sorry for the long story but I figured you guys would appreciate it.

Give in to love or live in fear,
Mara

I don't think your story was too long, in fact, I want to know more. What did
you say to her? What did she say? Please tell me. (Dying to know)

I did the same thing when she was in Richmond. I had actually spent a good
bit of time talking to her in her dressing room, but I'm greedy so I raced
back to the Jefferson Hotel. She ended up going to dinner someplace else, but
I ended up having drinks at the bar with her conductor, who is really nice.

Well, she saw me running up to her and asked me if I had run all the way
from the theater. I said yes :) She asked my name and wrote it down and
asid "like that" I told her that I've been waiting to meet her since I was
four and she looked up with a suprised look on you face and repeated" Four
years old?" I told her that it was since I saw Annie in the theaters ( I
used to dress up like her.. l;ily was my fav.. I left that out though). She
wasked my If I was an actrss, I said singer, She signed another for my
friend who was with me. I thanked her repeatedly. She wished me good luck
and that was it. Its was all too short but I was so thrilled to be that
close to her. It was all a dream. She is SOOOOO beautiful!!!!!! thats my
story :)

I was at the concert too! I was so mad that the security was so tight!
I wanted to follow the limo, but my parents wouldn't let me! She is so
awesome! Were you there Friday or Saturday?

Betty Ann Grove played Bernadette's mother in George M! back in 1968. They
have remained friends and I have since become good friends with Betty Ann.
She moved to Richmond several years ago and we have done some shows together.
Betty Ann and I went to the concert together and earlier in the day, Betty Ann
contacted Bernadette and told her that we would be there. Bernadette left
instructions that we should be allowed to come back to the dressing room after
the concert. Betty Ann introduced me to Bernadette as her biggest fan on the
planet and told her about all of the shows that I've done in which I had
played Bernadette's part (Sunday in the Park, Mack & Mabel, Dames at Sea).
I've actually met Bernadette on several other occasions, but this was much
more personal. Betty Ann and Bernadette talked about what they had been doing
since last they saw each other, but all I could think of was the fact that
Bernadette was still holding my hand which she had taken when BettyAnn
introduced us. It was simply amazing!!! There were no reporters there - just
her husband and some other friends.

After the concert, Betty Ann and I went over to the Jefferson and met Marvin
Laird (that's his name, isn't it?) her musical director and had drinks with
him at the bar (that wasn't arranged - it was just luck). I can't wait to see
Annie Get Your Gun - January 1 - what a way to ring in the New Year!!!
