Well, our director wanted to get creative, so he added
a sort of "living forest" into the production~ im a
"dancing wood" <G> I think the show will be really
great (though im not thrilled with our choreography.)
The overall thing is fantastic though, and people
think that we'll be getting nominated for a few
awards!:-) Our musical director is soooooo kick ass
and i really wish i got to work more with him!!! He's
a composer, Neil Berg, and he wrote "The Prince and
the Pauper" which just got optioned by MSG (yeahhh!!!)
If you go to amazon.com you can get the concept album
and i think you guys would really like the music a
lot~ DEFINATELY worth it! lemme know if any of you get
it- id love to know what you think!!! I don't know if
she's still here, but Katie Paul from this list got
into the same production, but she wasnt able to do
it:-( it was so funny when we realized that the 2
bernadette fans had gotten cast in the same roles in
the same production!

the show is the first and second weekends of february
and we're almost sold out for a couple of the
performances already ~we just opened the box office
monday too!!! ill keep you posted~wish me luck!!!

Neil Berg is your musical director? I have "Prince & the Pauper" and it's
great. The song "Rain" is so addicting, I go around the house singing it
(although it doesn't help that I have a lousy voice). He's produced lots
of concerts, hasn't he? Most recently some in Nyack. He has lots of
incredibly talented friends, that's for sure.

So will there be a production sometime soon? It would be nice for it to
get to be done again on the stage. I didn't see the original production,
but I did find a review online.

Break a leg with Into The Woods. Sounds like it'll be great.

i really like that dancing woods idea.... that's really cool.... Into the
Woods is such a tough show to cast......it has a good sized cast, but it
doesn't leave ANY room for extras....so directors have to get really
creative sometimes...or end up cutting some really good people.... the only
idea i could think of to avoid this was to add other fairy tale characters
somehow within the choral numbers... but then again, there's only so many
characters that a general audience can regonize by site, which is neccessary
for it to come off right...(since it's highly illegal to add lines without
written permission, which is hard to attain)....but i really like the woods
idea :)

Yeah, in the Highschool production i saw last year
they addedother fairy tale characters. It was nice
but there was one thing that really didnt sit well.
They had the 4 wizard of oz people...and thtas just
really not a fairy tale like the ones that are in ITW,
its not like brothers grimme stuff.

That's a very good point...i think i would have a hard time seeing
characters from the wizard of oz as well..... but it's really tough to find
other alternatives that people could know by site...not to mention that all
the characters in "into The Woods" are human characters as well (except for
the wolf)....so it'd be hard to add characters like the three little pigs,
goldilocks & the three bears (was does goldilocks REALLY look like anyway?
I'm not sure people would know it was her)....one alternative is to base
certain fairy tales on the way Disney has visually presented them...since it
seems most people have those identities tattooed in their heads as to what
they're supposed to look like....
On Broadway, Into The Woods based Snow White and Sleeping Beauty off the
disney characters...so they obviously have no problem with tis practice...
Maybe Peter Pan would be a good extra to throw into th show...afterall, I
believe Neverland was wooded...I can't seem to think of anyone else off the
top of my head... anyone else?....this is interesting...

Yes, Neil has tons of concerts with different Bway
stars (unfortunatly i couldn't make it to the Nyack
one that just happened) he also sometimes takes some
of the people from the production at St. Joe's (where
im doing ITW w/ him) to be in them which is so great
that he does that:-) My whole cast is on tenterhooks
hoping to be chosen (not me cause im a dancer in the
show *blah!*) ill let you all know when his next
concert is~ you can go to his website if you want any
info on them or the shows he's written~
http://www.geocities.com/Broadway/Orchestra/6166/

Interesting tidbit~ Neil's married to Rita Harvey who
was Christine in POTO on Bway and on tour, and she
also sang on his "Prince and the Pauper" CD (she also
sings with my friend at mass *lOl*

I'm not sure how soon a staged production would take
place, but i do know that they want to have a reading
in the near future:-) ill ask him and keep you posted!

Thank you!!! I hope so (the buzz so far is that we're
gonna get some nominations this year for awards from
Papermill ~how kickass would that be???)

Yeah, I have to say that the way we're doing it really
is the best one out there...im not crazy about adding
in other fairy tale characters. We have the dancing
trees *me!* who do scene changes, and are used to hide
various characters throughout the show (mysterious
man, etc...) and we also have major dance #s during "I
know things now" both "Agony" songs "Giants in the
sky", etc. we come down the isles in the opening and
"ever after"...we also have singing woods who appear
during each of the midnight's and the openings, and
the same people are "villagers" in the isles during
"ever after" the effect is VERY good. (We do a lot
more than it sounds too <G>)

sorry for the huge post! Hope it kept you entertained
and put everyone's blood pressures back at a suitable
level after all the controversy:-)
