My name is Sarah and I'm writing to different fan lists because
I'm working on a book that I think some of you might be able to
help with if you're interested. I don't want to offend anyone,
but I just want to start by saying that my interest in this
subject stems from my own experiences with it.
Since a young age I've been "fixated" on different celebrities.
Sometimes the fixations would last months, other times just days,
and sometimes even years. I don't say obsessed because I think
that's a bit harsh; I don't want to bring any harm to any of
these people and I'm not unrealistic about who they are at all.
I know they will never be my friend or anything like that.
Until a few years ago I felt alone in this, like there was
nobody like me anywhere and wondered what was wrong with me;
at the same time I felt really fulfilled by my preoccupations
with whichever celebrity it was at that time. Once I got online
I met a lot of people and realized that I'm not at all alone.
Being a writer, than stemmed my interest in learning more
about this issue and writing about it. To help people who felt
as alone as I did when i was younger, and to share experiences
and information about helpful ways to deal with other people
who don't understand things.
What I'm doing now is writing different fan lists to find people
who also have fixations. As far as what fixations are... it's
a non-sexual, non-threatening fixation with someone, usually a
celebrity, usually of the same sex. But not always. Some people
have several at a time, others have only been fixated a few times
but very strongly. I'm interested in talking to all sorts of
people with fixations.
If you'd like to be involved, you can answer around 20 questions
and end it there, or you can stick around and be interviewed
more in-depth for the book. I'll be profiling around 12-15 ppl
who want to participate, and that will take a little bit more of
your time but in the end I hope to get a good mix of people
involved to write about. **If you want, your identity will be
protected completely and you can choose a pseudonym!** My goal
isn't to embarrass or shame anyone. I just want to know more
about this and other people who do the same thing.

that I can send out the questions all at once rather than to 50
people separately :)
