Well, I recently bought Into the Woods because my school had done a
production of it and I remembered how much I loved it. I knew who Bernadette
Peters was, but I didnt know how amazing she was until I saw Into the Woods.
So, I was in New York a couple of days ago auditioning for a college and I
convinced my dad to see Annie Get your Gun with me. I still cant get over how
wonderful she was in it. It is just so amzing to see her live!

On the mention of bernadette live, i have to say that seeing in person is
pretty thrilling. But here's the thing; I recently saw the only person I
adore more than her live in concert: Bette Midler. And as fans of the two,
I began to compare their shows against one another. UGH OH!!! I found that
I loved Bette's more than Bernadette's (for those of you who have seen both
divas, you'll know what I'm talking about). I mean, Bette's show was
sooooooo fantastic. HOWEVER... the more I thought about it, I realized that
Bernadette gives concerts, while Bette does more of a show or spectacle.
Lol, that's how I justified and equalized my adoration for the two. You
really can't compare them.

No, unfourtanetly not. I saw it at my high school when I was in middle
school. I have never done any musicals because I didnt think my voice was
that great, but it has gotten a lot better. I think I might try out for one
when I go back to school. My college is either doing Jesus Christ Superstar
or Little Shop Of Horrors.

i was discussing Bernadette today with a friend...

it came from a discussion we were having about mandy patinkin...and how even
though his voice is often an "aquired taste", once you get sucked in it's
amazing... and how even though he was incredible in "Sunday In The park With
George", Bernadette totally smoked him performance wise...
but then I thought about it, and commented that Bernadette pretty much
smokes everyone in any show she's in... agree/disagree?
Has she ever done a show with Victor Garber?? I think he's about the only
person out there right now that could compete with her presence and
performance...

Into the Woods blows me out of the water in so many ways... First off, it's
sondheim, which I am a freak over...but it also happens to be my favorite
sondheim show, not because of bernadette, but because of the incredible
energy and rush i get from the show...
There are tons of mindblowing performances in Into the Woods...(chip zein's
"No More" almost sends me tearbound everytime...) but it's still so clear
that bernadette just plainly kicks everyone's ass in the show... she's
definetly the dominant actor in the show, even though she's technically not
the "lead"....her performance of "Children Won't Listen" after Rupunzel's
death gives me chills and goosebumps like you wouldn't believe...and her
little solo in the finale reduces me to a pathetic blob of emotion....

I've seen the video tons of times and I still get the same overall effect
everytime... but at the same time, I learn something new about
myself...Overall speaking for the video i can never watch at anytime except
late at night before I'm going to bed, because I can never get anything
accomplished after seeng it, due to being emotionally and mentally paralyzed
from the experience... Sondheim somehow manages to take a context which is
as about as far away from reality and real life as you can possibly get, and
at the same time teach you so much about yourself.....pure, sheer
brilliance...

Personally, I think it's incredible that someone can teach me so much about
myself without even knowing me.... and not even knowing they're doing it...

I don't think Bernadette smokes every1 in her shows. She's just unique, and
that's what we remember. I'm sure some mandy patinkin fans say he "smoked"
her in SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE.

It's interesting though, I have the "Sunday in the Park with George" video and Many Patikin gets more applause that Bernadette does even though she had a more dominating prescence on stage.

That's probably to be expected... Bernadette was brilliant, no question about
it, but Mandy was brilliant too, and he was the titular star.
