I totally know what you mean about the books at school being corny. They're
all about "teen angst" and crap (been there- done that). I don't know of any
sites offhand that have monologues, but I got a good one from a site about
Medieval literature. It's called "The Defence of Gwenivere." I think it was
originally a poem, but it works well. Also, contact your local library, they
often have complete books of monologues from real plays (not the corny ones
that you're running into at school). If all else fails, just ask the
librarian in the arts section, tell her your problem, and exactly what you're
looking for, usually they will be able to find something (or a few things)
that you'll be able to, and feel comfortable using.
