Hi all!

I need some advice! I am auditioning for the part of Eva Peron (Evita) and
I have no idea what I should use as an audition piece! I need to really show
off my voice. I am a soprano and my range goes comfortably from a F below
middle C up through a High C. I can go slightly lower and slightly higher
than that. Any suggestions you have would be GREATLY appreciated! The
audition is coming up in August and I want to have plenty of time to prepare!
Thank you so much!

Love ya!,
Carrie

No, usually it's a bad idea to sing a song FROM the
show unless specifically asked...just my experience.

NEVER AUDITION WITH SOMETHING FROM THAT SHOW, unless you'[re personal friends
with the director and he requests you to do so. I would look at maybe other
shows Patti has done or songs she has sung, or people like her. Maybe "I
Dreamed a Dream" (possibly too overdone), there's a good one from RAGTIME,
the one Mother sings towards the end, "There Was a Time," i think it's
called. Another one is "Meadowlark." That's a good diva song.

Thank you to those of you that have responded! Keep sending me your ideas!
I have been adutioning for 10 years now, and if there is one thing I learned,
you should NEVER audition with a song from the show you are auditioning for
(unless it is an Opera, then they expect you too!) I am hopeful about these
suggestions! Thank you all! And think happy thoughts! Is there a good
Bernadette song that could equate the character of Eva Peron. I am too
stressed about the audition to think logically!

Love Ya!,
Carrie

"On My Own" is not the best choice. It is FAR too overdone! Unexpected
Song is done commonly, I think, but a fine choice, as is Tell Me On A
Sunday. Most ALW songs are overdone, anyway.

yeah overdone. But something like "Nothing Like I've
Ever Known" from "song and dance" is cool. -Eric

How about the "Witch's Lament" from Into the Woods, or even "The Last
Midnight" - - both display strength, character, the fact that both the witch
and evita weren't good, bad, nice, just right. Just a thought.

Try "English Girls" or "You Made Me Think You Were In Love" from Song and
Dance.
Or Something from Pippin. Kind of Woman is good.

"Pippin" ech... blah... ugh... Sorry, not one of my faves! haha... Someone
requested "Witch's Lament" or "Last Midnight." Not bad choices (of the two,
I think that "Witch's Lament" is the better choice) but the sheet music is
only available in the $100 vocal score. They're both not in the vocal
selections book. But how about a favorite of mine - "Being Alive." In my
opinion, the BEST song Bernadette's ever done and I think that it fits very
well into the Eva Peron persona.

You know it's odd, almost all the songs people have sujested Carrie sing for
her aduition are or a one point were sung by Bernadette :-) Of course it's
obvious why though isn' t it? :-) Well like I told Carrie before, I'm awful
at this. But I think the idea of singing last midnight is excellent, whoever
suggested that is really thinking. Cause if anyone knows this Peron and
Evita hurt Argentina's economy by trying to do the right thing ("I'm not good
I'm not nice I'm just right!"). So it goes along really well with the
character of Eva Peron. Excellent job Kelli!! That was really good!!
