okay, I am super behind because I was working on a show all weekend and my
next show starts tonoght. But I am going to try and respond to everything
that I just read.
-->my High School also did 3 shows a year, a drama/comedy, a children's
show and a musical
-->I tried to help my babies(the HS friends I left when I graduated) get
ITW on stage byu recomending they do it as a one act, which I think would
be highly effective the second act is cool, but very hard technically
-->I have the CD and a video copy of SITPWG and the play is really wierd,
it took me a long time to get used to it, but I have really learned to like
it(hint:the CD does not do justice for Berndette)
-->She performed Unexpected Song at the concert I went to too. But what
really freaked me out about the "Hey! Mr. Producer!" CD was how much older
and mature she sounded, cause she's soooo cute in the orig. recording

-->who ever saw S&D could you share? I think that would have been a neat
show. In a few days I will listen to the CD and then hopefully I will have
tons of Q's for you(understand I'm a theatre major)

love to everyone, keep up the convos,

love,
tiff

I saw S&D at least five times when I lived in NY. The first time I sat front
and center and paid the big bucks. After that it was strictly standing room.
The show is really interestingly structured. The entire first act is just one
actress (BP each time I saw it, although I understand Melissa Manchester did a
great job with it as well). Emma is a young girl from England moving to the
US to design hats. The other characters are indicated simply the Emma's point
of view (with a doorbell here and there to let you know they've entered the
scene). It was pretty amazing to watch her do scenes with an invisible
partner!

The second act is completely danced. No singing or dialogue at all and it
tells the story of Emma's one true love and what his life is like after they
split. Happy ending -- they do get back together.

Bernadette was truly wonderful in the role, but got a lot of ragging about her
voice on it. It's pretty taxing on the voice to do that show eight times a
week. Forbidden Broadway did a spoof of it called "See Me on a Monday"
because that's the only day that her voice was in really good shape.

The show is not often produced regionally. In fact, I've gotten so tired of
begging local theatre companies around here to do it, that I think I will just
produce the thing myself (just the first act). Of course, I've got to get
through Damn Yankees and Children of Eden first. I'll let you know when/if
anything happens with S&D - or rather Tell Me on a Sunday.

Well, I've gone on long enough. Til we-email again...
